I have an appt on thurs 5 December. I had a pelvic scan 3 wks ago but no suggestion of a liver scan afterwards. Then the letter came yesterday. I see the consultant on mon 9 th. my question is, why have they rushed another scan through before I see the oncologist on the 9 th? (I had breast cancer 2 yrs ago and was treated successfully) thank, nettie

The liver scan could be so the oncologist has up to date information on all pelvic organs. Worrying that it might be a sign of some problem won't change things other than spoiling your days until you see the oncologist.

'Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.'

Probably they just need a clearer bigger picture for the Consultant. To be sure.

I'd a shock when AFP bloods were requested. But it was merely

Like ticking all the boxes☑️

Do you know if they ran an AFP tumor marker blood test? Why did they order a. pelvic scan in the first place? Why not just ask the doctor what they are looking for? l think you're entitled to an honest answer.

I agree with you. Drs don't always explain everything to you

Hi Nettie,

Great comments from the forum members.

We would suggest clarifying a rationale for the tests with the consultant; they are probably ensuring all the information is to hand at the next appointment. Maybe take a list of pertinent questions with you?

Good luck

Warm wishes
