Hi

I think it took my sister in law about a month. I had open surgery in October 85 , it took me 8 weeks to feel ok , had a massive scar across my stomach!! Keyhole is much better. Let me know how you get on please. Take care and good luck Lynne

Hello, Lynne! Thanks for replying! Gosh, your experience underlined to me, how much better keyhole surgery is! Have you fully recovered now?

Thank you for your interest! I will certainly let you know how I get on!

Best wishes, Hazel

A woman at work had the Op and felt completely fine after a few days.

Keyhole surgery is amazing, I had it for a liver op. Generally you will sore/comfortable the day after but must people quickly improve.

There are usually only 3 very small incisions so very little has to heal.

If everything is ok you should expect to be out of hospital next day.

I think the effects of GA can last a week.

Hi

Yes, I've recovered from it, unfortunately I have many other issues like so many people on here. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hi YellowPinky

I had my gallbladder removed in October 2015 successfully by keyhole surgery ! I felt ok within a week but some take 2 weeks.

The only warning I can give is to eat 'No' fatty or fried foods Eat healthy to avoid upset tummy !

Hope all goes well and take care !

Hello, Trish!

Thanks for replying! One to two weeks recovery time is great news! I feel relieved already! I thought that I would be out of action for a couple of months!

I hope that you continue to progress!

Regards, Hazel

Hi Hazel

If you work the doc will recommend 1 - 2 weeks off work with no heavy lifting. My three tiny scars have faded lovely too! Just take it easy on the food side of things and you'll be fine.

Dear Trish!

This forum and the generous members like you and Lynne are an answer to my prayers! You seem so positive! Frankly, I have been terrified of the op. because of what else they might find, and because I have Atrial Fibrillation, and I am on Warfarin! I hope the latter does not complicate things too much! They have told me to stop taking Warfarin for 4 days, which thins the blood! That goes against all previous advice!

God bless you all for your kindness!

Hugs, Hazel

Easy Peasy! You will do Great! Had mine out March 2018. Was Terrified but it took a week to feel almost back to normal. 2 weeks tops. Eat bland foods for a month. Good luck!πŸ˜€πŸ™πŸ˜€

Thanks for replying, Casinobo! I am really pleased for the success of your op! You seem to have a positive attitude, which must help enormously! You have made me feel more confident about the process! Sincere thanks to you and other caring members! Regards, Hazel

I try to be positive but in reality, I’m a big Chickenhawk! I had to have my surgery and was very nervous, because I never had a surgery before. Was just so relieved when it was over. I try not to be a hypochondriac but , I ams what I ams. I did a lot of reading about the procedure before I went in and it was helpful. Some people do these as an out patient procedure so I’m real confident that it is a minor surgery. Said a little prayer for youπŸ™

Hi Casinobo

Eating bland food is a good way of putting it! However as you improve

over the years I would still recommend avoiding fatty and fried foods as you produce less bile to break down fats which can then lead to other complications later on in life which a few friends of mine now have ! Healthy eating is best route to take to avoid any future pains under ribs or nausea etc.

All take take πŸ’•

Love Trish

I agree 100%. I am still a little fresh post surgery ,and can say that I have tried to eat better, and get more exercise for countless positive reasons ,but there are times in moments of weakness where I fail miserably. I will also say I am one who does get frequent minor pains in my Liver /Gallbladder region that I still don’t know what it is. Could be the Fatty liver, or IBS who knows? I tried getting my Dr. to help find the problem , but they just won’t keep looking into it because nothing really shows up on ultrasound. So until I hit my target weight,I guess it will remain a mystery. With that being said, I am fully satisfied knowing that I don’t have to worry about those dreadful stomach/Gallbladder pain attacks anymore. They will make you wish you were dead! Lol. I’ve learned as I ripen in age, you are just gonna have to live with some aches and pains. Oh well, at least I can walk and work still.

CheersπŸ˜€

Hi Casinobo

I was like you at the early stages of having the op! Fell off the healthy eating plan numerous times but never realised until last year that I was still eating to much cheese etc even in small amounts! When I cut the bad fats out and replaced with avocados, crispy grilled bacon with all fat removed, grilled or bacon chicken,, soups,, curries made with low fat yogurts and coconut milk the none stop pain under ribs and around the liver area, nausea all went ! However my upper gut does have a wobble still and swells out like a hard ball! My belly's region is ok and fairly flat since losing almost 3 stone !

I would still look at what your eating and the amounts if your now suffering a little! Oil on food doesn't seem to go down to well either.

I never eat white bread anymore, it's always brown multi grain in very small amounts!

Oh well, take care! Please keep.me updated on your progress

Hi again Hazel

I know it's easy for me to comment with my op being all over now!

I dont know if you believe in guardian Angel's as well we all have them. On the day of my operation I was getting dressed in my bedroom which had 200 hundred year old wooden floors. That morning I was slightly stressed like everyone would be and at the bottom of my bed was a bit of a walk around area which I'd walked over numerous times whilst getting ready! Well about 30 minutes before I was about to leave a massive 6 inch white feather appeared on the polished wooden floor just as I was walking from my en suite to exit the room. The feather could not missed and stopped me in my track to let me know that I'm going to be fine! The feather was so beautiful that I have kept it pressed within a book! If you believe in this sort of thing, then believe me your loved ones are looking after you along with your guardian angel! So please try not to stress to much as were all here to be by your side!

Love and hugs Trish xxx

Hello, again, Trish! What a wonderful experience!!! I have read many times about the beautiful white feather calling card that Angels use! Yes, I certainly believe in them, and often ask them for help!

I am a practising Catholic, who needs the practice! I have had a number of near death misses. and truly believe that I was saved each time by my loving God, and the Angels!

Thanks for sharing! Hazel 🌺

I have been experiencing pain in ny liver/gallbladder area for months. All tests show that gallbladder is fine yet surgeon still wants to remove it. I dont want to lose my GB but also do not wnat to sit in pain anymore. What were you symptoms that led you to remove it?
