I’ll give you some background. I’ve been having attacks every few weeks always at night and then I’m fine the next day.
I’ve lost tons of weight because I just can’t eat anything.
Last week I blacked out and ended up falling down the stairs. Luckily a couple of bruises and that’s it.
Anyway the consultant secretary called me last week and said she had a date for next week. She said as long as there’s no infection he can do it.
Well Sod’s law. Since Thursday last week I had an attack and ever since have had sharp stabbing pain in gallbladder area. Also waking up in the night feeling really bloated and pain in chest.
Now I’m scared they will refuse the surgery. I have no temperature I’m not jaundiced and I haven’t been sick.
Has anyone been in a lot of pain right up to the surgery date?
I do have my pre op tomorrow so they will answer my worries
I’ve got so much going on in my head

Hi Tracy. Just put all your questions, worries and concerns to them tomorrow and yes they will answer them and will hopefully put your mind at rest.Best of luck, hope the surgery goes ahead with no problems.
Hi tracey12. I had my gallbladder removed as an emergency last March and it was done when I was in great pain, with a temperature and heading into toxic shock. So hopefully, your surgery will go ahead soon. Take a deep breath, write a list of your queries and try and get them answered tomorrow. Thinking of you. X
Thank you x I’m probably just overthinking. It’s just I’ve never had this last so long before. I’m also wondering if it’s trapped wind. I’m taking everything I can and peppermint tea but nothing easing the pain x
I was in pain when they took mine out but they didn't have much choice as bits of it were necrotic. The only thing they said was that they might have to convert to an open operation if they couldn't safely get it out through keyhole. They would only refuse you for a good reason. Good luck!
I can understand your worries as they've cancelled mine a few times. mine has been down to the fact that I have breathing problems. Stay away from all fatty foods and try plain no fat bio yoghurt. I have mine with honey and a little bit if oatmeal. let it soak in the yoghurt for an hour or so. All you can do is rest and eat healthily, lots of water. And keep your fingers crossed. Good luck.Emma xxx
Good luck I do hope you get your surgery as we all know how painful it is,as everyone says write a list put your questions to them and fingers crossed they will go ahead 🤞.Stay safe All
I’ve never been in pain for so long. Night times seem to be worse. I think looking at Google hasn’t helped. By what I’ve read it sounds like either a blocked stone or pancreatitis. I thought it was severe trapped wind yesterday. I took medicine for it and drank peppermint tea but to no avail. This morning it’s slightly duller. Pre op today so I suppose I will find out today. 1 thing this pain has made me not fear the operation x
Tracey12, I had mine out 10 weeks ago and was I’d daily pain in the months leading up to the surgery. They advised it would be keyhole (which it was) but if problem would be open surgery.
Yes why is it that it always happens at night all my attacks have happened at night then when the ambulance turns up that blue light seems brighter and wakes the neighbors 🙈. Ido hope they stop the pain soon.Stay Safe All
Sorry to come on again if it’s a stone blocked they can do an operation where they go in with an endoscopy and just pull the stone out then they fitted me later on with stents to help any more stones to pass , unfortunately with me the stents only lasted a few days then they passed into my stoma bag, they it’s unusual but possible hope your operation goes without a hitch.Stay Safe All
Thank you all so much for your advice. I think the anxiety is just kicking in. Surely if I had infection or anything else I’ve been reading about it would be 100% constant. I have no temperature the pain is 10 at night and I’d say 4-5 during the day.
Oh thank you palpman for replying. I’m so sorry you have been through so much. I’ve got it in my head that if there is a blocked stone or something they will either delay the surgery or have open surgery. My mind is really running around.
Hi,I had extreme pain during several attacks right up to having my gallbladder out. I lost 12 lbs too whilst waiting. So relieved to have it taken away. You won’t regret it.
Well I’m 3 days Post Op. not feeling too bad. From what I remember I’m sure they said the op was ‘messy’. I know I was down for 3 hours so a lot longer than it should have been. I’ve no follow up but I think they said the surgeon would call me in a few days. Just glad it’s over with.
