It really was, I opted out of run 2 week 2 with my neighbour this afternoon and decided to run the 35 minute recovery run instead. At my own pace nice and slow. The road we usually park for the river is closed for resurfacing so we parked near town and walked across the main bridge. My neighbour ran past me while I kept my pace really slow, I saw her drop to a walk, plodded on, looking across the water, what a beautiful day.
Green trees blue sky and water, oh it's lovely to be out, theres a brisk breeze in my face keeping me cool, soft footfalls one after the other. A time to reflect, looking back over this year so far, there have been some incredible highs and some devastating lows, retiring was my biggest and best decision, running more regularly a close second.
I see my neighbour finish her run, turn and back, I have a few minutes to go and we meet, walking back together, taking photos, enjoying being out. It's pretty hot now so back to the car, roof down and home.
Tomorrow is a rest day, which means housework and shopping but I can't run every day.
Enjoy this sunshine,
