Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Most London runs haven’t cancelled. Bertie gave us a break. We still decided to go to a surfaced one, as we thought the grassy ones would be quite muddy 😅
Not too bad apparently because it has only just started raining again. And it's not as cold as the last few days. But I dread to think what it was like underfoot, it's bad enough in summer. No results yet because they ran out of tokens
Good morning Damien and other parkrunners, all the parkruns I go to were cancelled because of snow, rain and wind, I got home and got a nice warm shower, I did run 2/3K short runs on Tuesday and Thursday at the least cold time of the day, 1.15 pm.
Today, my friend Luis who is also attempting LonDone and I decided to brave Storm Bert and went to Barking. We decided to do it, as it’s the only he’s got left that’s surfaced and we figured Bert would make the others quite muddy.
Thankfully Bertie held off and we had a mostly dry run.
I hadn’t run in 3 weeks due to holiday and “post-holiday depression”, so I was a bit nervous, but I managed to do it and my pace hasn’t gone down despite my break, so I’m happy with that.
Hello damienair and all, UpTheStanley was RD at Southsea this weekend , and took the decision to cancel yesterday for the sake of volunteers who would be very exposed on the beach and promenade for at least 1 1/2 hours. We went to 2 key places so we could chat to anyone who didn’t get the message, and they completely understood the decision. I was being buffeted by 55mph winds at the start area and it was very hard running against the wind for those few who ran anyway. The rain came in at 9.30 as we were eating an earlier than normal breakfast.
Hi Dexy5, just to say my duty as marshall at Palacerigg was cancelled because of snow, it's now raining but so far the wind has stayed light from a easterly direction.
it was also good to see the decision justified. It’s not an easy one to make as things can change overnight. There were certainly some relieved volunteers who were grateful to have a lie in instead.
I kept an eye on the cancelled list of parkruns and my local one was still going ahead so I decided to brave storm Bert and complete my 45th parkrun of 2024. I’m on a mission to do 50 parkruns on my 50th year on this planet. I arrived to a very quiet car park and was delighted to see the amazing volunteers setting up the finish area. There was heavy rain as I sat in the car, but thankfully it stopped raining just before I got out to walk to the start line. I was wearing my heavy rainproof jacket which ended up being too warm. There was about 46 brave runners and walkers plus the amazing volunteers. Numbers were well down. Everyone took it easy and no one was going for a PB today. I just wanted to run a nice sub 30 minute 5K and I finished my parkrun in a time of 28:42, happy with that considering the conditions and the fact that I took a couple of walking breaks and a stop to take off my jacket. Everyone today earned their parkrun a volunteer credits.
All local parkrun in West Yorkshire been cancelled so missed today. It's been a week off awful weather with snow ❄️ and ice 🧊 so not really good for running so I've been to the gym this week instead. Well done to anyone who got to a parkrun
Us hardy folks in the Midlands won't be put off by a storm. My usual parkrun (which often gets flooded by minor drizzle) went ahead. It was a bit windy and part of the course was icy so I took it easy. This was parkrun #128 for me. We had a barcode scanner drop out because of illness so after running I helped with the scanning. So I ran and volunteered - 2 for the price of 1. I was cold and had wet feet but it was better than staying in bed.
GTFC and I were going to do Beverley Westwood today to get to 75% of our compass challenge, but most parkruns were cancelled. We ended up in Hull doing Peter Pan parkrun with Bert in force. Zoom into our faces for a giggle 🤣 Absolutely horrendous conditions 💪🏽
