Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Sadly no Parkrun for me. Have been trying to rid myself of a chesty cough since last Sunday. Had hoped to volunteer but not felt well enough to do that. Husband however went to Hove Prom this morning and from what I gather it was hot & busy!
Wishing everyone a great week ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ผ๐โโ๏ธ
We mightl be. My plans are on the 5k app which seems to be down at the moment. The Southsea parkrun website has all the details but if you need more info, do PM me. We are cancelled on 17th August.
No parkrun for me either-still not recovered after covid and feeling tired all the time. Weโve booked a holiday to Belfast in a couple of weeks time and weโre hoping to try out a Northern Irish one while weโre there. Having fun looking at the course descriptions for all the ones in easy reach of the city! If you canโt run, reading about running is the next best thing!?!!
Ooh thanks for the tip! Thanks for the good wishes too! Iโm thinking of trying a run this evening. Not a not-parkrun yet but Iโm desperate to get out and do something!!
Good morning Damienair went over to Lister Park parkrun, lovely morning for a parkrun and happy with my time 30.16. I've been looking at my times and since I had a virus back in may my times have been going back up so hoping to start going back under 30 minutes soon ๐
Good morning Damien and other parkruners, this morning I ran at Drumpellier parkrun which was it's 5th birthday, the cake at the finishing line was delicious, yummy ๐, pleased with my time of 32:09 with another +60% age grading of 62.47%, I was 154th out of 255 runners.
The cake was delicious Dexy, there are photos and a video on Drumpelliier's parkrun Facebook page, there was a piper there as well, before the run, all 255 people who were there followed the piper for a very short walk to the start-line, there is a video, I am walking at 2:01 in the video.
Morning Damien. This morning I did it; I got out of bed early and went to the Albert Park Run for the first time in ages. My last Park Run finish was in 2019 I think!
I started off cautiously with a first lap of 6:42, and then kicked on as I built up a bit of confidence. Result; negative splits, new fastest 1k, new fastest mile and a 5.01k Garmin time of 29:49. I thought that sub 30โs were things of the past.
As usual at Albert Park, the Park Run time was slower at 30:22โฆ.5.01k is copleted some distance before the finish. It may be different for the speedsters who are (rightly) given the inside of the track.
Fairly chuffed with that. More importantly, I enjoyed running with people (333 of us) and had a good chat afterwards. I met Tom who started running in his 70 s, is now 85 and is taking on the Berlin Marathon this year! I just like the fact that he looks so fit and is still enjoying his runsโฆ.gives us all hope. Hope everyone had a good morning.
Welcome back to parkrun Beachcomber66 , and what a brilliant time too. Iโd rather have a slightly longer parkrun than one thatโs short, as I feel compelled to keep running until I get to 5k.
An early morning today as UpTheStanley was RD and me on Finish Tokens. It was a beautiful sunny day and I was quite glad not to be running in the heat. We had lots of visitors, including members of a hen weekend who turned up in beautiful Disney themed outfits, much to the surprise of the bride to be! Hers was presented on arrival.
Our DofE Gold award volunteer was doing his 52nd and final volunteer today, so UTS got him acting as RD. Quite a responsibility for an 18 year old but he did brilliantly.
Breakfast followed with Oldgirlruns , who was barcode scanning.
Jennyโs first PR (walk) since baby chipmunk arrived on 1st July by C Section. Weโd planned on nice flat Clevedon, but with baby faffage (I remember those days!), we were running short of time as Jenny lives in Bristol and we plumped for Eastville instead. Flat? Nope, but we did baby relay and took it turns with the buggy. I offered to do the hills (kudos to those who run them with a buggy ๐ฅต), and it was amazing watching the gazelles fly past us!
1hr 02 for us both! There was one other walker with the tailwalker, and we were all cheered in! Lots of people asked where Flossie was! Shame I didnโt take her along in the end. Next time! ๐โค๏ธ
Realised I hadn't volunteered at parkrun for a while, so it was car park marshal (which means I can still run!), waving at all the arriving cars this morning at Lakeside, Warm and sunny, so paced myself and ended up with a steady 33.00 - perfect.
Iโm on Holidays. Need this time off and a break. So to celebrate I decided to go South for a 2 hour drive to do Wexford Racecourse parkrun, and for the company I brought Ruby along. I left with plenty of time to spare and programmed the journey into the cars GPS. However when it said Iโd reached my destination I was in the middle of open countryside. So I picked up my phone and checked google maps, I was 22 kilometres away from the Racecourse. Aaarrrggg. Thankfully I made it with 5 mins to spare but still needed a toilet break. Following this Ruby and I ran out onto the racecourse to try and get to the start line in time in the pouring rain. We reached the start line with 30 seconds left before the RD told the crowd to go. So off we went, Ruby is fantastic at running off the lead but takes her time and paces herself when on the lead. But she ran well with just one poo pit stop which was bagged up before setting off again. It was a 3 lap course on tarmac on the ambulance road around the racecourse. Thankfully the rain stopped after about 1K. It was a lovely enjoyable run and we finished in a time of 29:08. Ruby was first doggie home. I called to visit my two sisters on my way home and Ruby and I also fitted in a 6K mountain hike up in the Wicklow mountains.
well done damienair , you made it. Lovely for Ruby too.
We regularly get runners who go to our old start line and then have to run 3k to get to the new one. So long as they finish before the tailwalkers, thatโs fine. My advice to everyone is always check the website before you visit a parkrun, even if youโve been there before. ๐
Oh dear, I am a bit late! I volunteered today at Stratford upon Avon. I was originally just down to course check but I had a rubbish nights sleep so wasnโt really in the best place to run. So I did a bit of set up and then I did some bar code scanning and then I did a bit of close down and now Iโve just finished the token sorting ๐ Think that will do! 380+ souls visited us today. It was a beautiful morning and we are in full on tourist mode at the moment. We get as many Aussies as Brummies some weeks in the summer.
So, tomorrow Iโve got a long training run, I hope the sleep is better tonight ๐ฅฑ
Was going to head for a local newish, and not too busy PR,, but a tweaky back put paid to that idea... so ran yesterday... 5K, that weirdly recorded as 6K on NRC guided run...
Very well done. Iโm staying away in Co Down. Over ate yesterday and donโt feel great today. Iโm just up and Ruby and I are going to head out and run a 5K before the rest wake up. That should help.
