Some days it’s just not meant to be…

Hi everyone, my first post on here so I thought I’d share this morning’s run - which didn’t go to plan….I’m following the Magic Plan and today was going to be my week 4 long run, 50 mins. I’d decided to use the NRC 30 min headstart run (and just keep running to 50 mins), and had my extended route planned out. Off I went, first 10 minutes went fine with Coach Bennett asking mindful questions every 2 mins, then I stopped to cross the road. The NRC app paused but didn’t restart. I didn’t realise for a while until I thought Coach B was a bit quiet. So I wasn’t entirely sure how far I’d gone or how long I’d run, then I had to stop to cross the road again. The app restarted, but seemed to be trying to catch up. Coach B was asking questions every 30 seconds and tbh it was getting a bit stressful. And then the stomach cramps started, caused by the antibiotics I’m taking after a neighbour’s dog bit me over the weekend. At that point I just decided to give up and headed for home having run for what I’m guessing was about 40 mins. So I’ll chalk that one up to experience, and maybe take a look at today’s Amazon Prime Day deals on Garmin watches 😉

Oh dear! As you say, it wasn't to be today. Sounds like you have a good attitude though!

Coach Bennett always talks about celebrating all the wins, so think about that - you started a run, you ran for around 40 minutes. And making a sensible decision to stop is probably a win too - being on antibiotics can affect you in funny ways and cutting a run short can be the best thing for you.

On another note, you can turn the auto-pause feature off on the NRC app. It's a known glitch that it doesn't restart but turning it off should fix that for you next time! Happy shopping and hope you feel better soon.

That’s a good reminder to celebrate the win 🙌 Also, I hadn’t noticed that you can switch off the auto pause so thanks for the heads up 😃

Everything Faidh79 said. I'm on antibiotics too and haven't run for over a week so you are doing better than me. 😁 Well done for getting out

You're not a real member of the NRC gang until you've had the glitch. Just be thankful it wasn't when you were running an interval at your Best pace - 30 seconds can feel like a long time, especially when you realise you've been running flat out for over a minute!!

Sounds like you had a pretty good run and did the sensible thing. What better way to celebrate than a new Garmin watch :)

It happens... ease back, let the antibiotics do their stuff and head out again :)

It can be so frustrating, I've had a few of those glitches with NRC that can leave you feeling 😤🤬😫 but you carried on and finished your run even if it wasn't the one you intended so well done! 😀 I would definitely recommend treating yourself to a Garmin watch 😁 Even when all other tech has failed me, my watch has never let me down (so far!) Do share a pic if you get one ⌚👏👏👏

Eek! Hope you’re ok after the dog bite.

Well done for knowing when it’s game over time.

Sometimes I feel these days happen for a reason. 40mins is a great run too.

Had a few issues on NRC too not registering runs, sods law it’s always the one you want recorded the most.

Ive just recently gone for the vivoactive5 after much hmmm & aaaahhhing.

Unfortunately I’ve only used it once as I’ve had Covid that’s knocked me for 6.

While sofa bound I’ve been able to look at all the features etc & set it up so fingers crossed. It won’t be long off.

Tested + 11/7 seems to be on my chest now. No light at the end of the tunnel as yet.

Happy running, let us know what you went for (if you did)

oh, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had a ‘not so good’ run…it’s not down to you though, when tech goes wrong I think it’s really off putting because you don’t know how far you’ve run, what pace etc…& then the questions just rile …and you’re thinking ‘fgs shut up and let me just run!!’ And then out comes another question!!! Once you realised your tech had blipped that was it…well done for trying to keep going but I’ve found that’s the rend so I know where you’re coming from!! Hope you’ve managed it now
