Duped by Coach Bennett, and Dire Straits distracting me and making me run 58 mins rather than 50!!,

So I set off this morning to do wk5 r3 of the 60 min plan, and yes this run is supposed to be 50 mins. I was trying to have mind over matter about not getting fixated on the fact that 50 mins sounded a long time and a distance I haven't done before. So I decided to try another guided run from the Nike run app, the mindful 50 mins run. Really enjoyed listening to Coach Bennett, an Olympic runner and a mindfulness coach talking about the power of your mind, but didn't realize that unlike the other runs, there's no reminder to turn round halfway, so I just kept running! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. Then suddenly as Coach Bennett was saying ' I'm about to count you down to the finish, Dire Straits ' Do the walk of life" came on, and I found a sudden burst of energy and found myself running in time to the beat, singing very loudly, much to the surprise of the family of village swans who were just swimming along minding their own business!!!!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸŽΆπŸŽ΅πŸŽΆ. Stopped my watch , 58mins, 7.87kms. A bit gutted that 2 more mins would have taken me to my overall goal of 60mins, but seeing as this was supposed to be only 50 and at the start I doubted whether I could run for that amount of time, I'm think I'm pleased but I'm getting the bug now where I definitely want to do better!πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ€«

Great running... and you know that the 60 isn’t so intimidating now too! Hadn’t noticed that some of the runs don’t have a halfway reminder... but like that coach Bennett reminds people on treadmills not to turn around when there is!

Lovely tune. A BBC Midlands radio presenter used to back-time the end of that to coincide with the pips at midnight.

Haha, I love it! I am a big fan of an accidental longer run. I love the fact that you were singing out loud - proof that you were running at a good comfortable pace and who cares how madly we behave when we're enjoying our running! I saved my speaking out loud on my last run to a few expletives on the canal when a cyclist whizzed past me too fast and too close (not within his earshot though I hasten to add).

Sounds like you are running strongly!

I love it when you’re tired and a song comes on that picks you up! Amazing we get our motivation and energy from music 🎡 🎧

You smashed it! πŸ‘πŸ‘
