No running for me for the rest of the week at least as I recover from Achilles twinge, but I always make a point of coming down the beach for an early walk on D-Day and especially poignant this year as it starts to slip out of living memory.
Lots of Canadian troops set off from my beach alongside our boys.

I slept in so didn’t do my early run today but I am currently waiting for my friend, who is late as usual, and we are going to the DDay celebrations here. There are WW2 vehicles, and GI reenactors on the Square and Tea Dancing. Then more stuff in the Park later.
Lots of GIs were based here and left from the beach near here too. My grandad fought through both wars and I always think of him today and Remembrance Day too. I used to go with him as a youngster when he marched with the Old Contemptibles on Poppy Day parades.
I remember being so proud of all his medals -9 in total
It's all so poignant. I always think of my dad on D Day, he was in the gliders landing to secure Pegasus Bridge. I'm beyond proud of him and wished I'd talked to him more about it before he died.
Definitely more poignant this year . We mustn’t let it start to slip out of living memory . We must never forget what these brave men and women did for us❤️x
