With all the excitement of the swimming, I forgot I accidentally ran 10k on Thursday 23rd May,
I went out to do a 5k slow run to get ready for the weekend and I just kept going, until I was at around 8k and thought it would be rude not to continue, I wasn't struggling or out of breath I felt good and relaxed so I did it, I ran 10k or according to my watch 10.22km @ an average pace of 7:21/100km the time was 1:15:11
So I've had quite a busy few days and I'm feeling pretty good
I've changed my Strava profile from cyclist to runner π

Good run for you today Beiciwr, just kept going until you ran a fraction over 10K in a time of 1:15:11, congratulations, I also cycle as well as running, in fact I have been cycling for over 50 years, mainly short bike rides but only running for 6 years when I cut down cycling from 4 to 1 times a week, I use the app Mapmyrun ππΎ and Mapmyride when running and cyclingπ² respectively.
I used to do audax rides until work etc started getting in the way, I've never got back up to that sort of mileage again, I haven't ridden the bike for two or three months now, I find going out for a jog much easier and less time consuming. I use my Suunto watch and app to record my runs, swims, and hikes then use one of the wahoo cycle computers to record my rides, then it all goes on to Strava, although komoot is pretty good and I use that sometimes.
You are moving on a'pace...well done for your run; but as MissUnderstanding reminded you when you first ran 10K, just take it steadily as sometimes, small injuries , minor or even major tears, etc can be hidden and do not appear until later.
Maybe, try to fi it some specific, regular core strength activities, especially for those legs and feet...despite the fact that you are cycling and walking, your body is doing a lot... and needs regular, consistent support.
Hi, I use the gym a couple of times a week and also do yoga/pilates, I make use of resistance bands and make sure I do a 15 to 20 minute warm up before running or swimming and most importantly I have 1 day a week when I do nothing at all, including not going to work, I will be sticking to 5k runs for now and building up from there
I don't know about no injuries, but wouldn't that be nice π, I've certainly started to listen to what my body is telling me more, if I feel tired or have an ache in my legs or shoulders I just ease off on the exercise for an extra day or two and then get back to it.
yes, they are the best, no pressure thinking "I must run this far" or "I've got to swim this many lengths" just go with the flowπ especially if the weathers niceπ
