It was one of those mornings when I just needed to get going. I missed a run on Saturday/Sunday because of nanny duties and Ebony was recovering from a dickie tummy (I think the cats had led her astray into eating something yucky). But all good this morning and Ebony was very excited to be back in the groove. Although it rained just as I was doing warm up stretches, there was very little wind and the promise of sunshine. It was a thirty minute run on the plan today so I took Coach B with me and the added bonus of Andy P. As it was all about headspace and being in the moment, it was very fitting to see a rainbow just as I was on the bridge over the creek.
It was in fact a lovely run in gentle rain after that, which I don’t mind at all as long as wind isn’t lashing. I was enjoying that smell of rain on dry pavements and thinking I must look up that word when I get back - still haven’t but I’m sure someone will know it!
I’m off this week so I’m going to move the runs around so that I’m back on schedule for a shorter run midweek next week. I feel like I’m in a phoney war at the moment as I’m not doing more than I’m already used to and so far this is a gentle easing into increasing the time. But I’m also making myself get into good habits again of religiously stretching before and after which I always did on the C25K and I generally do, but maybe not as systematically as I should. But avoiding injury as I increase is my priority so I’m committing to that too!
Just off to google that word …

That sounds perfect. I love those Headspace runs too, great for training and building good habits too. Great idea to do those stretches too, also those 5 minute warm down walks are incredibly helpful in easing the muscles post run. Good luck 🏃♀️🏃
I swear by the stretches. I do 5 - 8 minutes of stretching before and after a run, some static, some dynamic. I used to run decades ago and had to stop due to shin splints. Never was able to complete a 5K without walking some of it. On Sunday, I completed 5K distance for the first time with no walking. I was slow, but thrilled.
Touch wood, I get a little tingle of shin splints in my Toxic Ten but it gives way. Hope it stays away!!
Yes I absolutely agree stretches are everything- I never had any injuries when I did C25K even though I’d never run before - I’m convinced it was the stretches that saw me right. That was four years ago so I’ve got 4 more years of old bones to oil now! 🤣
That photo 😍😍😍 I think you send a bit of headspace into my living room this morning! That run you did is one of my favourites. Thanks so much for my favourites!!
