that's really good Alan! And a nice little negative split at the end when it counts. A good time progression too. Well done
The 69.23 is the time I go for rather than the 1.09.33, it usually takes a few seconds to fiddle around to stop the timer, hence the 10 seconds difference. In the early days the difference between the two times could be as much as 30 seconds, but now I am getting better at pressing the off button. π ππΎ
that is still quite fast... sometimes it takes me a minute to remember and I shan't even mention grumpyoldgirl
Grumpyoldgirl rulesππΎ
I always remember to stop my watch. But not necessarily at the time I stop running π
... and that is why I always count the 5K or 10K split time as my running time, I am getting better now at switching the time off, it used to be over 30 seconds, now I have it down to around 10 seconds.
Update, I recently discovered a little icon on Mapmyrun which I have not used up until a few months ago, it is at the top right side with the word "edit",I did not risk using it at all with important runs just in case I deleted the run by mistake, however, with a few shorter 3K runs I discovered that by pressing "edit" I can change the bold header time to the actual split 5K or whatever the time was for the distance I ran, so that 33 seconds has now changed by editing it to 23 seconds, a thing I did not do at the time incase I lost the whole run, also, you can change the duration as well, that gets rid of that 5.02 K duration running distance to exactly 5.00 K you learn something every day.
Nice one! X
Great work AlMorr , I'm still trying to get to 10k . Slowly but surely. π
That's how I got to 10K as well, slowly but sure, that run on the 25th September was my third 10K, going back to early August, every second Wednesday I increased my distance by 1 Kilometre, my first 10K was on the 28th August in a time of 73.03, that's the day I became a Graduate10. Two weeks later my time was 70.20, of course I wanted to get a sub 70 minutes time hence the 69.23 time on 25 September. Just like C25K take your time in gradually getting to 10K.
Do you feel you are ready for a parkrun this Saturday after your recent hand operation or perhaps a few shorter runs before your next parkrun?
I ran last Friday and Monday and Wednesday this week , going out for a short run tomorrow and yes will be at parkrun on Saturday. π
I have just noticed that Drumpelliier Parkrun is cancelled on Saturday 2nd November because of a "funrun" in the park, that same day is Dunfermline's 100th Parkrun, I'll be there, worth considering if you are free a week tomorrow.
Good run! That's my 9k time!!
Great increase in that last km!
It was UNM, yesterday was more dramatic on my midweek 5K run, I set my metromone app at 176 steps /beats /cadence a minute, from the third to fourth kilometer I ran at 7.19 kilometer pace, I thought to myself, that was slow I will need to quicken up a bit, which I did, the last kilometer was ran at 5.55 kilometer pace which gave me a overall time of 33.10, last Saturday at parkrun it was 33.15, two weeks ago I set my metromone app at 172 steps a minute, my time then for a 5K was 33.21, consistently sub 35 minutes, but no sub 30 minute 5k. π ππΎ
You don't need to worry about me beating your sub 30 minute 5k time of around 26 minutes, your 10K time of around 52 minutes, that was amazing, not long now until your HM.
Iβve yet to go sub 30 at a parkrun... Iβm either on a recovery run, or I start too slowly for some reason! I think my parkrun PB is a shade under 31, so youβd not be far behind me in the line to get scanned!
Nope... not long now... number is being posted very soon, then it will go from being just another run to π±π±π±π±
PS UNM, I have just looked at my diary, I have to attend a concert on Friday 1st November at 7.30 PM, now usually after a concert I have a slap-up Chinese Meal, I'll not be able to do that next Friday as on Saturday morning it is Dunfermline's 100th parkrun, I will just take a very light meal when I get home so I can run on Saturday morning not feeling bloated. Ha.
Well done Al, you are a in danger of becoming a speed demon. I dream of a time like yours. Fabulously well done. πββοΈ
Thank you Runningroni, runners who cannot run a sub 40 minute 5K are congratulating runners who can, same goes for sub 35, 30, 25 and sub 20 minute runs, the big one is sub 30, to me it decides the joggers from the runners, same with the 10K, I was at a 10K race recently, not running but cheering the runners on, I noticed the sub 60 minutes 10K runners all got going roundabout the same time but there was a 5 minute break before the gun went off for the runners who would run the 10K in more than a hour.
Great screen shot and brilliant time.
I'm still working towards the 10k slowly slowly.
Well done to you! Do you run 10km on a regular basis?
I have ran 4/10K's since September, averaging one every 2/3 weeks, I don't run too many, not as many as I run 5K's, as I said my next 10K is due to be run on the 3rd January 2020 which is the 10th day of Christmas, just for a bit of fun as they say in the Christmas Song, "The 12 Days of Christmas", 'on the 5th day of Christmas my true love asked me to run a 5K, on the tenth, a 10K I'll see how that goes.
