10k for team HU

I was going to go tomorrow at 10 when the Monsal 10k was due to start but it was such a lovely morning, I brought it forward to today. 10k in 1:06, taking in the scenery, stopping for photos. Lots of people just out for a walk (and social distancing clearly happening!), everybody waving and saying hello. The golf course was really busy. 10k in the bag for VRWC - go team HU and team UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Now to make a start on my poor neglected garden! Happy running VRBs πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

A super day for a run Sandie. Getting very springlike with pic-collage too.

They’re such cheerful looking daisies, I couldn’t resist πŸ˜ƒ

It's great we are getting a few nice weather days at the moment , ours was lovely on my run yesterday and not too bad today be it a bit chilly.

Great photos and enjoy your gardening😊😊🌞

One of the advantages of living in the flatlands is that we do have such big skies and it looks lovely in the sunshine 🌞

Great contribution to the cause. I went out for a virtual parkrun -same time but nowhere near the usual parkrun course. Hoping to get out for a longer run tomorrow.

It was great to see so many out walking, running and cycling. Exercise is going to be ever more important for us in the coming weeks and months. People were very friendly out today. Shared hardship I guess.

On a side note I see Dame Vera Lynn was interviewed yesterday. Amazing lady for 103 years old. That said I like other rousing songs a lot more than We'll Meet Again. Tongue in cheek here is my take on a new version of Jerusalem.

And did those feet of ancient me

Jog upon England's mountains green?

And was this ambling gait of mine

On England's pleasant pastures seen?

And did the pace drop too far

As the route took in the pesky hills?

And was my 5k time up to par

Aa I stumbled back red in the gills ?

Bring me my Asics to the door

Bring me my Garmin battery charged!

Bring me my water, banana too!

Bring me my race face with a smile!

I will not cease from running free

Nor shall my barcode be in hand

Til we have our parkrun back

In England's green and pleasant land

Obviously those of you in other parts of the Union can adapt your own. Parkruns of Scotland anybody?

Thank you 😊 I saw from your last post that 24 April is your runniversary. Mine is 23 April - coming up to 2 years for me. Who would ever have imagined?

Nice one Sandie! Yes, a lovely morning for a run. Spring does appear to be here - although we had the strongest coldest easterly wind blowing here this morning. πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨

My daughter and I did our own personal parkrun up on our local common with Flossie darting back and forward between us!

Go Team HU! πŸ‘Š

We always suffer from the easterlies (being in the East πŸ˜‚) but I still had to strip down to my t-shirt after about 3k. Sounds like you had a lovely run - dogs still need walking whatever else is happening 🐢

Wow, you’re made of hard stuff. I β€œrun hot”, but even I stayed fully layered up on my run today. πŸ₯Ά πŸ’¨ β˜€οΈ

You’re right about dogs. Flossie thinks it’s Christmas, she’s never had so much fun! πŸΎπŸ•β€οΈ

Thank you 😊 I’ve been to the garden centre for compost, seed potatoes and veg seeds before they get closed too, in anticipation that summer at our house in France may be delayed or cancelled this year and am going to plant yummy home grown veg once I’ve finished weeding the veg patch πŸ˜ƒ I’ve asked for a refund for Cape Wrath as I can’t really plan to be there next year. Such a shame. I was so looking forward to it!

We got seeds and plan to plant up veg in pots to take as we move from Inverness to temporary accommodation then new house. I'm going to miss our very productive fruit garden we are leaving behind. I hope the new owner appreciates it when supermarkets have a reduced range of stock 🀣🀣

Great 10k Sandie. Good choice on running today; it is going to be much colder up here tomorrow...with apparent temperatures about 4 degrees below actual ! But, I hear the bugle call to duty and will be doing my best to add to the total tomorrow. Aiming for somewhere between 10k and a slow10 miles, depending upon when my legs seize up! I will try to unearth a snap from my recent Molly walk collection. She has returned to the woods walks recently ...lots of hills; doing her good, and me for that matter. Plenty of space between people up there, but, as you say, everyone seems to be in friendly mood. An "all in this together " spirit, which only evaporates when you get anywhere near the toilet roll shelves in the supermarket πŸ™„ Pity about Monsal, but a good replacement run.

It’s those easterly winds BC - not good for those of us on this side of the country. Bon courage, mon ami!
