I'm on my second run of the magic 10k and today was the easiest day to fit the long one in.

I'm a bit out of kilter due to night shifts and planned to go earlier but it just didn't happen so I resorted to my next favourite time in late afternoon.

There was a light drizzle when I started which got heavier and really refreshing, can't believe it's my first run in the rain and very enjoyable.

I stuck to the path on the playing fields just in case my trainers didn't cope with wet grass but got bored after three laps and ran back up the hill. Only a few weeks ago running uphill was a real struggle so it's amazing to see how my legs are responding now.

Finished in the park, I was tired but it felt doable with a few pep talks in my head! During the last few minutes my legs started giving me promises of all sorts of pain to come...

It's only an extra 0.5k but I feel stupidly proud of myself!

Thanks to all of you lovely people for this supportive forum and to The National for the inspiring lyrics "it takes an ocean not to break" which spurred me on today.

Happy running! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Well done, the 0.5k is a difficult step. The rest is less daunting.

I liked the rain which is handy as I'll probably be running in it often!

Well done on completing the extra .5k. I did mine yesterday and it does make quite a difference when you’re not used to it. A nice easy 5k to finish the week then onwards and upwards πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Well done. Can I ask what is the 10k plan. I just graduated 5k and looking what to or where to go next

There is a great plan put together by ju-ju. If you look for the magic 10 plan on the pinned posts you can see more info. It's recommended to consolidate first after graduating, by continuing to run three times a week for 30mins, although I only did a week.

Increasing your distance to 10k is not the only option, so have a look around the forum for other advice and I absolutely recommend finding a parkrun nearby if you haven't already.

Good luck and happy running.
