Hi! Something funny happened to me at a run yesterday.

Hi, I was at a special event with work yesterday, walking/jogging 5km. I switched on Strava at the start, switched off at the finish, and it's logged me as doing 6km! And even better, I apparently did 6km in the time it takes me to usually finish my parkrun on sat morning. I did my own interval run, start with walking and then jog as far as I could before walking again. I enjoyed my method so going to ignore beyond 5km app on Saturday and do my own thing at parkrun. I'm still aiming for under 50 mins. I'll get it smashed.

🤣 you’ve got to love tech! I’ve accidentally got fastest runs when I haven’t turned off my garmin and driven home. Turns out I’m a lot speedier than I thought…when I’m in a car!!

Top tip for intervals is to go less hard than you think you should at the start so you can keep to your desired pace all the way to the last one. You don’t need to go all out for it to benefit. If you’re judging it yourself, try not to run until you feel exhausted and have to walk because you can’t run any more. Keep it under your control. Warming up well is more important for this sort of faster running too. One more suggestion would be to run for a decent chunk of time at your conversational pace before starting your first interval and allow for a good cook down run at the end too.

Enjoy parkrun!

I tried the interval run on beyond 5km app, found it too fast for me, so going to try it at my own pace.

Your own pace is the perfect pace 😁,

I'm going try doing my own pace at parkrun tomorrow and see what happens.

I always start too fast and get out of breath, then just do what I can to finish, I've been practicing starting really slowly and increasing speed gently, it works but not at parkrun :-)
