Week One of the Magic Plan - slip sliding away!

My repeat of Ju-ju's magic plan got off to a flying start with a new pb at Parkrun on Saturday. So I set off today thinking I'd do the longer run (5.5km) at Sissinghurst Castle which has a great 5km route. What I'd forgotten was how incredibly muddy it was last time I ran there. And today was worse! I think I did more walking than running and still struggled to stay upright at times! So my run today ended up being the shorter one of 2.5km instead as I wasn't enjoying it much. Bit disappointed but trying to remember that any run is better than no run. Might stick to roads for the next one or go do my parkrun route which only has one muddy stretch.

well done, that is really tough running... don't be disheartened, its a run, and the next one will be better :)

I definitely feel like I've had a workout - been using muscles I didn't know I had! 😂

The best showers are after a run 🥴

You ran in that and your disappointed. I know what you mean though you wanted to run a bit longer . I know you're not keen but this is where the pavements come in handy😊😊

Yes, I think I need to learn to love pavements and find a route away from the main road which is no fun at all. I only started C25K in March 2019 so all this winter running is new to me. Am hoping it's not this muddy every year!

Wow that looks tough! Still, sounds like you’ve adapted your plans and so all is well. Better that than risk a sprained ankle!

That was my worry! I don't want any more time on the Injury Couch!

Thanks, Granspeed, it was indeed mud soup and a fair bit of it ended up in my socks! 😂

Oh dear. This year I’m thinking that’s what running socks are for! I’ve just bought some longer ones to try to keep the mud on the outside instead of inside. 😨
