W37R- Involuntary pause.. 😢

I've run over rocks, stepped on slippery roots, gotten stuck in mud, slipped on ice... but then all it takes is one wrong step on a crappy sidewalk in the city.

It's like looking around at the houses and not paying attention to the road.

This is really infuriating! 🤬😳

I'm icing my swollen ankle, trying not to move it and hoping it gets better soon.

I'll see how it goes. look in the morning

I hope it won't be long.

Happy running and take care!

Oh no!! I think most of us have fallen at some point. It’s no fun when it happens. Sending much sympathy your way and hope it’s a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

Oh dear ! It’s rotten when that happens. MissUnderstanding is right all of us have fallen at some point me included. When it happened to me it fair shook me up and I did have a couple of bruises and slight cuts ,nothing broken thankfully but my did I feel silly .

The ice is a good thing.I would take it easy this weekend and don’t rush to get back out there.

Big virtual hug coming your way right now🫂🥰x

You should have seen my knee on 31 March last year! That was from tripping over a loose manhole cover and landing on coarse footpath tarmac... whilst walking.

I'll spare you the photos. 😆

It was a manhole cover I fell on when I sprained both wrists, both elbows, bashed my knee and scrapped my chin. They’re dangerous beasts. Best avoided!

🍏🤗🤗🤗 I too fell a few weeks ago! My pride took longer to heal than my cuts & bruises! Hopefully it’s not swollen & painful this morning 😥❤️‍🩹

Yes, that's right. I was pretty depressed :-) But it's better now!

Fwiw none of my falls has happened on challenging terrain lusmo ; only ever on super-easy trails when I've got complacent. Even better, my most recent injury was caused by yoga - I messed up my back and couldn't even walk, let alone run, for several days.

I recover better by giving myself time and not pushing myself right away when I do restart running. A break of anything up to ten days seems to help me come back stronger.

Wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

Thank you very much! It happened to me a while ago on a walk. Since then I have had permanent effects because I underestimated it and didn't go to the doctor.

No big deal, just a crack in my ankle when I walk up the stairs.

This was my second experience. Fortunately, not that bad.

It's good to know that danger lurks where you least expect it! :-(

I feel for you, i was 5k into a planned 8k run 2 weeks ago and not looking where my feet were landing and boom rolled my ankle on a sticking up bit of pavement fell into a wall cut my hand up and ankle swelled up all black and blue, 2 weeks later swelling has gone down, bruising just starting to fade alot less painful, but so angry with myself not looking where my feet were landing, starting to do rehab exercises now but it will be at least another 2 weeks before i attempt to run again, so easily done when we are not being careful, i wish you a speedy recovery x

That's really scary! I didn't have it that bad. But I was really angry with myself.

I'm fine now.

Get well soon and enjoy your return to running!

Oh eck! That’s a nuisance!😏

We’ve all done it though. It just goes with the territory unfortunately ☹️

Rest up and hopefully you’ll be back out there soon 😏👍

Thanks a lot!

But the worst part was the depression from it. 🙄

it's better!

Thank you, it's not a comeback yet, just an attempt at it :-)

It will be back when I manage to get back into a routine.

It will probably still be work :-)

Thank you all so much for all the lovely words of encouragement. It's better now. But I felt miserable, I felt clumsy, and I thought to myself: This is how it is: So much exertion and work and building fitness, and then one steps badly on an ordinary sidewalk! And all the toil is gone That is not possible, what a fool I am!

I know it's not like that, but that's how I felt.

And it was worse than the injury itself.
