While I was really looking forward to going for a run on Monday, but couldn't due to persistent ankle pain, today (Wednesday), it was hard to go for a run. It wasn't just because of the fog, but my soul was screaming very loudly that it didn't want to go anywhere and that nothing would happen if I put it off until next time. I have every reason to do it that way, after all, my leg is still not ok.
I thought we had already resolved these internal conversations. But it was back here.
Well, the run was pretty tough. I was wondering how quickly the condition will go down - it is enough to stay at home twice. Maybe it's the age, but it didn't add to my good mood.
I set out on a familiar path (so boring), no exceptions and dangerous places. Be careful.. I'll see what my ankle says about it. Maybe it was mental, but I felt like my muscles didn't want to work, my lungs were starved of oxygen, and I weighed twice as much as the last time.
But I ran it. Hopefully it will be successful next time too..

🍏Lusmo you are so hard on yourself! If that glorious photo was taken on this run there’s nothing boring about that! Its glorious!! The toxic 10 was certainly looming but to be expected plus the lurking fear after an injury that accompanies the first run back! You overcame both these things and finished well. Celebrate now!! When you say your leg is “still not ok”, does that mean you’re still getting pain from it? Or is it purely the mental side of returning that you’re finding tough? I’ve been there with all the doubts and gremlins-it does get better with time.
To me, your run seems to have been a success-you ran without your ankle troubling you. That’s a big win. Sometimes we’ve got to reframe what a successful run looks like and not compare with how we’ve been running before. Be a bit nicer to yourself. You’re recovering, and that doesn’t happen overnight. Running shorter and easier regular runs worked really well for me. You don’t have to immediately pick up the distance you were running before, and I’d gently question whether that’s a good idea straight after an injury.

Oh lusmo! Take very good care of yourself, be absolutely sure that your ankle is ok. And it's ok to take it easy, to slow down, to feel your way back. I have a nasty suspicion that you shouldn't really have run that run? Believe me I know how it feels when you can't get out there, but sometimes you have to listen to your body 💕(Feel free to let me know if I've got that completely wrong!)
