Not Week 2 Run 1, that was a 14 minute recovery run but I wanted to go a little further than that. Instead I did the 25 minute recovery run scheduled for Day 5.
Although the day started gloomy the sun came out as we set off for the run. It felt quite warm, though the thermometer only said 3C.
Halfway through Coach B told us to choose a word for the run. When I set off my legs felt like lead and it was a real plod, so I chose 'smooth'. Funny how keeping that in mind made everything much, well, smoother.
It's great when you find you get quicker even though you're keep the same effort as the run progresses. I even managed negative splits OK, it was only 3km hey, let's celebrate when we can.
We are heading off for a week this evening and I'm not sure whether there will be anywhere for me to run while I'm away. I might be able to do the shorter runs (1 and 2 as scheduled). My most compact running gear is rolled up in my small carry on bag and I'll be wearing my second best running shoes for the journey (dainty shoes also squashed down to their limits in the bag). If I do get out for a run I'll be adding Italy to the list of countries I've run in. Now there's an incentive!
