🍏 Running safely in cold weather

🍏Today I set off on my penultimate run. One more on Monday before flying home on Tues/Wed. I wish I had listened to NRC Coach Bennett’s podcast Cold Weather Run long ago!! NRC fans please listen to it as the UK winter begins! So much to learn or be reminded of…... lots we know, but nuggets of wisdom we don’t! It’s a 45min easy run which I ran in -6 with a wind chill! 😎 However the sun was shining and the paths not too treacherous because of a recent snowfall. Delightful!

Great cold weather tips 👌 Loved this guided run. Listened to it just before the weather here in Scotland dipped to 2° ("feels like -1°") earlier this week. So felt comfortable running today in "feels like -2°" Have had coach Bs wise words in my head and am now under strict instruction self imposed, never to run if its icy and to pay heed to the seasonally adjusted need to warm up first when I do 🥶

Oooo…that sounds like great advice Annieapple …I haven’t listened to it yet but I def will now, Thankyou…I am terrified of falling when I’m running in winter…I once slid in sheet black ice in the cemetery…and banged the back of my head good and proper…I laid there with cartoon style circles of birds going round my head for a few seconds while I wondered what had just happened…then I got up and jogged/limped home…my hubby was not best impressed when I told him what had happened…there was a bit of finger wagging going on..so now, I don’t run when it’s icy…I am not invincible! We all need to take a look out of the window before we set off! X

What a beautiful place to run! There's nothing like crunchy powder snow underfoot is there?

I've been meaning to do the Cold Weather Run for a couple of years now, your recommendation might finally spur me to do it :)

Enjoy the rest of your stay and let us know how the final run goes. I wonder if it'll feel any warmer once you get back 🥶

🍏 Definitely a worthwhile listen/run. Thanks I will post the last run. It’s funny often the NE feels colder because it’s damp & wet. Canada Alberta is dry & mainly sunny blue skies! However once it passes the -11 🤣 it’s another story! We were here one year in -30 … your breath actually freezes 🥶 🤣

What a lovely run to end your visit. Pic is gorgeous. I did that Coach B run last time too. Some brilliant advice there. I don't know how you managed to run in -6C though. Doesn't the cold air seer your lungs? So well done to you and such happy memories for you to bring home.

🍏 it’s actually ok. I wear a buff and when it was -17 I certainly pulled it up over my nose. I run so slowly it seems to be ok. Last run tomorrow & the forecast looking ok!!
