Walk a mile. Run a mile. Smile!

This was my unusual triathlon this afternoon! I’d wanted to run first thing but life logistics meant that didn’t happen. At about 5pm I was feeling really itchy from not having been out so I decided to brave the heat. Kit on. How bad could it be?

The answer was…pretty bad! After being outside for a couple of minutes, I was already sweating so I decided perhaps running wasn’t the most sensible plan. Up the path to the lane, dodging all the overgrown brambles and start the garmin on walk setting. There was the tiniest bit of breeze and some shade along the lane. The butterflies were loving the sunshine and I was loving watching them. I settled into a nice rhythm and the prospect of a gentle jog didn’t seem so awful after all.

A mile popped up and I turned for home. I managed to track along the hedgerows to stay in the shade for most of the way. This meant a bit of ducking brambles and listening extra hard for cars who might not see me running so close the the edge of the road. I really enjoyed it though. It felt so good to be out and actually running. Mile two came up as I reached where I’d started and I stopped to walk the final few minutes past the blackberries and back home. This was in the blazing sunshine and even though it was only five minutes, I was a disgusting ball of sweat by the time I was through the door. Straight into a the shower and as I got out, it struck me that I’d taken almost exactly the mid point of my run and walk mile times to cool off. That made me smile!

It ended up as a pretty short walk and a very short run. A massive mood boost though!

🍏😊Wow that is one glorious photo … one upside of the heat is that the flutterbys (as my granddaughter used to call them) stay out longer! Well done for getting out there in that heat and gaining the feel good factor. Glad you found some shade and a breeze but nevertheless it must have been steamy! Well done!

It was so hot! I think I’d underestimate how hot I’d got. When I stopped my glasses were literally steamed up! I got out earlier this morning and it was much cooler, although still not cool!

Thank you! Sometimes just a short little run and some sunshine is just what’s needed. I’m hoping the sun tones it down a bit though!

Thank you! I was disproportionally pleased with myself given it was just a short little run but it really hit the spot!

Yes! I felt extra good at the end of it for making it out in the heat. This morning I even got up early for a longer run. More smiles (and a lot more sweating!!) ❤️
