Run the lights 10k -Blackpool

Well, our little running group talked about group entering this as it’s only 20 miles from home. Turns out I was the only one of us that actually booked it 😆

Tuned out to be a lovely evening, if a little windy - it’s the coast, can’t really expect much else.

The sun was just setting at registration - I don’t really like running in the evening, and considering we’ve just got back from a week camping with the kids I was happy with my time. It would have been a 10k PB except…

My watch recorded it as 9.97km at the finish, so I kept it running through the water point and stopped it as it clocked over 10k - the last 30m was a slow walk through the finishers milling around the finish area collecting water and the all important bling.

Once the Strava upload completed, I found I’m going to have to do it all again as it didn’t record 10k 😢 😂 - technology!

official results aren’t out yet, I want to see the chip time - looks like it’ll be around 61’ which will have chipped 40” off my 10k PB

Congratulations! Exactly the same thing happened when I ran my local 10k! I was so overwhelmed at the start I forgot to press the button on my Garmin until about 10 seconds in so I'm on 9.97 too!Annoying but we have the medals to prove we did the 10k and that's what really matters ,,😁

Just got the chip time at 1:00:34.47 - that’s 66 seconds quicker than my last best.

Not too upset now.
