40 min run with a new phone holder sleeve

40 min run first thing this morning. 20 min jeffing out and up the sloping trail and 20 min continuous back and down the trail.

Although my lower back felt sluggish and achy on the walking sections, my running felt good.

I also tried out my new phone holder arm sleeve, bought recently, and it works great! My running belt is slowly falling apart, and in the search for a new solution, I came across the sleeve.

With it, I had bought also a new running belt, but it didn’t fit 😞 so I gave it to my occasionally running son, who was overjoyed as he suggested that the only thing keeping him from running more is that he needed to hold his phone in his hand 😃. I made him promise that he had to run more now … tee hee hee ! 🏃‍♂️

Happy running, everyone!

I use aa running belt that holds my key, my phone and the case for the earbud I wear. I bought a bumbag thing too for summer running as it will take a tiny squishy bottle of water; but it is very slightly too big for me and I think it'll sag when I run - though I've always run early so far and haven't run for longer than 35 minutes, so I have not needed to take water. Hope to run further for scientific testing purposes! 🤣

Haven't yet tried a phone-arm-y thing, but it wouldn't work for me as I need the key and bud box too - plus I often take my phone out while I'm running to check things or write down things that pop into my head! 🤫

yeah I have now quite a collection with four different phone holding solutions , representing different phases of my 3 year running journey. See pic and replies below.

But I’m lucky as I don’t need keys, and only phone, a couple of nose tissues and if running more than 5k, a mini flask of water.

Nice run! It’s great to try out new ways of carrying kit. Glad the arm band worked for you. I won’t buy leggings/shorts unless they’ve got a pocket suitable for my phone because that’s where I like it to go. Perhaps I’ll have a better look at the arm sleeves. I had one a while ago but it kept slipping down and annoying me.

Glad your son was able to rehome your running belt! I’ve never found one I like so went for a hydration vest instead for long runs where I need water. So many pockets for snacks! It makes me so happy to think of all the biscuits/sweets/mini cheddars I’ve got on me every time I run with it! 😂😂😂

Yes, I have by now a long history of hydration/phone holding gear, with some hit and misses, from

1) First 5 weeks of C25k: nothing, I think. I don’t actually remember what I did during first 5 weeks of C25k, and I might just have used my hoodie pockets or held in my hand. At that time no water carrying ability needed yet, either.

2) Then I got using a £1 pound (flip-belt like) running belt (best ever pound spent), but none of my biking water bottles fitted.

3) Then, bought during consolidation, the Freetrain V1 Running Vest (pic) designed for holding phones only and loved this one! But I needed to take my phone out of my phone cover for it to fit.

4) Once I was training for 10k, I needed hydration. So I bought a dedicated cheap hydration belt with two mini-flask bottles (Tomshoo, in pic). This was great as I definitely needed water by then. ( During this time I I did try a Aoinji hydration vest, which I never really ran with it as my bust got in the way , so I gave it to another HU runner).

So I was wearing my Freetrain vest for shorter runs and the hydration belt for longer ones.

But dropping my phone one yoga session, it’s back cracked, and that meant I wanted to always keep it in its rigid cover. The V1 vest was too small for that.

So I reverted back to my £1 running belt, now with using one of the mini flasks from my hydration belt with this belt, and it was expandy enough to take my phone in its cover.

And that’s where I am now. The belt is slowly disintegrating and losing tension 😢 , so I was on the look out for something else.

🤣🤣 Lol the long story of hydration packs and phone holders! 🤣🤣

(I think the pic uploaded in a separate post, for some reason)

You’ve certainly done your bit for trialling different solutions! I didn’t start taking water until I got up to 10km and the weather got really hot. I mostly ran with a hand held bottle (which I hated and eventually realised that was why I was dreading my long runs!). Where I live, it’s quite easy to stash a bottle behind a tree. I did that for a lot of runs, and that’s still what I do for most speed runs where I really like having a drink. I was lucky to find a fab hydration vest vastly reduced and that’s been perfect for longer runs. The Salomon adv skin 5 women’s fit in case anyone is interested!

Hydration and fuel on long runs was the thing I struggled with most on the longer and longer runs. I finally feel like I’m getting there now after a lot of trial and error!

Hope you can find a new belt that you love as much as this one. It’s funny how attached we often get to kit. I guess we’ve been a lot of places together!

I did actually buy an arm sleeve phone holder 5-6 years ago on one of those "too good to miss" Aldi/Lidl offers. After about a year I realised I'd never use it, so I gave it to the charity shop ... 😱

LOL, oh I must go to charity shops more, again, methinks… maybe it would be good to research the town with the largest proportion of runners and hunt around the charity shops for a bit 🤣🤣🤣

Yes! I got a mid-layer Karrimor running top, either unused or all-but, for a couple of pounds in the charity shop. I think it was Week 2-ish of C25K. It was my first commitment to the process ... the £100 pumps came a couple of weeks later - they were a downpayment on the house of future me!! 🤣

LOL Yeah, running gear does have a tendency to encroach on your wardrobe drawers.

I love an Aldi/lidl bargain and I also love a charity shop bargain! I’ve never been lucky with run kit but there’s someone the same size and with the same taste as me who donates to one very near a pupil of mine. I always pop in and have had some lovely bargains. If I ever meet her, I think I’ll be wearing all her cast offs!

This is the pic that goes with my response to MissUnderstanding . For some reason, it now uploads pics as separate posts. 🤔

This is a known issue at the moment. Photos won’t post as replies at all, or there appear as separate posts. Apparently tech are on it!

Well done on your run CBDB. I used to use a running belt for my phone and then I moved onto a free train harness.

Now I run in capris and leggings ( I’ve still yet to purchase some shorts) that only have a pocket on the side for phone which is brilliant and much better than the others.😂😂🥰x

I’m not sure if that would look bulky on my arms. I have a Spi-belt think it’s a juniors with me being petite and it holds my phone , tissue and a money. I wish it was waterproof that’s all. My leggings have a pocket down side but I’ve got Visions of it slipping out of pocket.n
