A run with a purpose

I've been struggling to find the time to fit in some longer runs during daylight hours recently, so when I looked at the map and realised that I could combine a run with picking up the car from the garage, I grabbed the idea with enthusiasm.

It's quite a long circuitous drive, but only 7k across the fields, with a bit of country lane at the end. I also got to try out my new hi-viz shirt, bought for those rare occasions when I venture onto the tarmac.

I felt quite excited as I set off across the fields before sunrise. I have never run with a true purpose before, it has always been purely recreational. I know I was picking up my car, but it felt so liberating, turning down the offer of a lift and making my way there under my own steam (buses, alas, are a pipe dream in these remote hills). I'm sure the mechanic thought I was quite mad as I arrived panting on the forecourt shortly after sunrise, but I was buzzing all the way home, itching to study the map for some more practical running errands to try πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‡

It was the cars at the end that scared me, even though I was lit up like a Christmas tree. I'd far rather meet a cow on a dark footpath πŸ˜…

Isn’t it liberating to have a purpose to a run? I left my car at work last week due to a Christmas lunch and ran to pick it up the next day. Only about 8k but boy did it feel virtuous πŸ˜‡πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I love this . Isn't it so great that you can get excitement from collecting a car ☺️Last year I ran to the vets a couple of times too collect medication and to the post office.

As you say it's so liberating..

Ah what a great run especially with getting the car once you got there! I’ve done a run to get somewhere once, it was, as you say, quite liberating 😊. That’s a lovely photo πŸŽπŸŽ„πŸ¦Œ.
