I decided it was time to change my name, so here I am. Willow will never be forgotten, he gave me the best 10 years that was possible but he only ran because I did, and then he couldn't be bothered although he supported me by waiting for me, collecting me and making me very welcome cups of tea when I got home, so you see, a very lovely man but not really for here.
I miss him every minute of every day so don't want to be reminded every time I log on here to read or write posts.
So WillowandSola wave goodbye, SueAppleRun will continue to run , read and post here.

I had just seen your name change a few minutes ago and was thinking of you. It is a difficult decision I’m sure, but your post makes a great deal of sense.
Thank you so much, I'm coming to terms with being me and not us, and some people have called me Willow because his name was first, so I decided it was time I was just me, he was never part of this forum only through my writing.
I think we know when it's the right time to take the right step and you were brave enough and strong enough to recognise this was the right time for you to change your name. Farewell Willow and Sola. Welcome SueAppleRun 💕
I also wondered at first who SueAppleRun was, I have been calling you Sola since Willow sadly died a few months ago, but from now on its the new name of SueAppleRun.
Thank you Floss, and I love the poem, it felt right having run 10 miles, I'd have never done that if Willow was still here because I'd have never gone out without him for so long, so it just felt right.Sue x

Thank you Lottie, it had to go that name and it's 12 weeks tomorrow, it just felt the right time, I wouldn't have gone off on my own before, now I can do what I like. It's weird but he wouldn't have wanted me to not run as it had always been my plan to increase distance. It was getting hard to see his name every time I logged in here, I have loads of reminders at home though, ❣️

It’s a brave but good change Sue; I’ve really enjoyed your WillowandSola posts but as you say, it was always Sola who was writing. Willow won’t be forgotten but welcome SueAppleRun - I shall look forward to your future posts! Now, I’ve clearly missed one because people are commenting on your 10 miles today - wow, just wow! I am so in awe! I went to Exbury 10k today with Dexy5 and UpTheStanley and confess I walked most of it because of the heat! Which, of course, is quicker for me anyway! My knee is sore now though, I could barely bend it when I finished!
Oh your poor knee, and thank you, on all counts, I'm not sure why I got a bee in my bonnet about 10 miles but I did, and now I s done. Exbury sounds great but not if you are hurting. A few rest days is on the cards I think 🤔

Adding to what everyone else has said, this is a lovely new name SueAppleRun . Willow is someone who will always be in your heart but when we lose someone we love dearly we may need to be able to choose when we need those reminders. This page probably isn't the place for that.
Names have a certain power. I've changed my name a couple of times and used different names for work when I didn't want to use my own very distinctive name. Each one has a different kind of resonance. SueAppleRun is lovely and positive, long may you enjoy this evolved persona.
Oh, and well done on running 10 miles, unbelievable!!

It will take some getting used to calling you by your new username but I understand fully why you wanted to change it. Enjoy your running, I'm sure it helps.
Wise and brave. You’ve had a hard time but you are determinedly battling on and there are plenty of people on here cheering you on loudly (or quietly)and wanting to support you.
