First run in a while

We've been on the move for the last couple of months plus it's just been too hot to run. Anyway, we're having a break from the boat and visiting the in-laws so this morning, our first day here, my husband suggested a run.

Checking my diary I found it's 4 whole weeks since I've run. I've had a painful hip and knee recently, haven't had a chance to get to the doctor to check it out, but decided to try a gentle 3km and see what happens.

The first couple of minutes were tough! It was like all the gears were grinding into action, but no significant pain. Then it all came together and it actually felt like going a bit faster would be more comfortable. Well, that's what my hips thought, the rest of my body was 'it's way too hot for this!'

We ran a very familiar route. The dry weather meant the sandy track was very soft, which slowed me even more but no worries, it just felt really good to be out running in the forest.

Occasionally I'd catch a glimpse of my shadow, my form was all over the place and I was really running like an old lady but who cares? I'm back 😁

Fantastic! Good to know you are back 😀 and it sounds like the run got better, no one cares about form, that can be sorted another day

You're absolutely right 😁 nothing to prove to anyone (even myself). I'm very relieved I don't ache today!

I did my first week of Bridge to 10K this Sunday after almost 5 months of not running. It was rougher than expected, but when I completed the final run of that week, I noticed my speed was slightly faster. Keep going.

I sometimes find that I'm faster after a break too, but not in this weather.Good luck with the 10k!
