I set my alarm for 7am this morning so I could run before it got too hot, after a night of the cat periodically poking at me and meowing and waking me up, I turned the alarm off and went back to sleep .So at 10.06am I was finally ready to go out.
6.4k or 4 mile's to do, I head towards the seafront and keep my speed slow. Realised I'd forgotten my water but no worries I'd only be out for about an hour.
1k done and feeling good, easy conversational run, 2k run and slightly faster than the first one. I peeled off round the lake, heading in the wrong direction but I wanted the shade from the trees, turned onto the golf course once again enjoying a little shade. Out the end, cross the road, had to wait for the lights and realised I've slowed right down. Waiting for the lights really stopped me in my tracks and I found it hard to get going again. The tide is really low, there are rocks, seaweed and pools of water, I couldn't be bothered to navigate that so stayed on the path. Turned For home .
The heat was telling now but I ran/walked on. 5k done 😀only 1.4 left.
Coach B was happily chatting away, Paul Simon was singing his heart out. I ran back through the golf course, thinking of the shade but I'd picked the wrong path, I was thinking where's the shade? Back on the road, almost done, up over the railway bridge, I try to run it but get half way and am walking again. 6k done so I run the last 0.4k slowly and I'm done 👍 almost home, walk the last few metres, thinking to myself that was hot!
Indoors, glass of water, glass of vitamin c drink, strip off and lay back on the bed, feet up against the wall, not sure why but I read somewhere that it's good for you. Text from daughter, are you done? Let's go shopping. Quick shower, catch sight of myself in mirror, for goodness sake! Factor 50 and look at the colour of me, I'm going to have to lay in the sun this afternoon to try and catch the rest of me up!
I loved that run, I've learned it would be sensible to take my water with me. And that's week 2 of my HM plan done, but I will revisit that run on a cooler day.
Keep smiling and keep safe in this heat.
The picture is from the other day, I didn't take any today
