That was a bit silly

I set my alarm for 7am this morning so I could run before it got too hot, after a night of the cat periodically poking at me and meowing and waking me up, I turned the alarm off and went back to sleep .So at 10.06am I was finally ready to go out.

6.4k or 4 mile's to do, I head towards the seafront and keep my speed slow. Realised I'd forgotten my water but no worries I'd only be out for about an hour.

1k done and feeling good, easy conversational run, 2k run and slightly faster than the first one. I peeled off round the lake, heading in the wrong direction but I wanted the shade from the trees, turned onto the golf course once again enjoying a little shade. Out the end, cross the road, had to wait for the lights and realised I've slowed right down. Waiting for the lights really stopped me in my tracks and I found it hard to get going again. The tide is really low, there are rocks, seaweed and pools of water, I couldn't be bothered to navigate that so stayed on the path. Turned For home .

The heat was telling now but I ran/walked on. 5k done 😀only 1.4 left.

Coach B was happily chatting away, Paul Simon was singing his heart out. I ran back through the golf course, thinking of the shade but I'd picked the wrong path, I was thinking where's the shade? Back on the road, almost done, up over the railway bridge, I try to run it but get half way and am walking again. 6k done so I run the last 0.4k slowly and I'm done 👍 almost home, walk the last few metres, thinking to myself that was hot!

Indoors, glass of water, glass of vitamin c drink, strip off and lay back on the bed, feet up against the wall, not sure why but I read somewhere that it's good for you. Text from daughter, are you done? Let's go shopping. Quick shower, catch sight of myself in mirror, for goodness sake! Factor 50 and look at the colour of me, I'm going to have to lay in the sun this afternoon to try and catch the rest of me up!

I loved that run, I've learned it would be sensible to take my water with me. And that's week 2 of my HM plan done, but I will revisit that run on a cooler day.

Keep smiling and keep safe in this heat.

The picture is from the other day, I didn't take any today

That’s a sterling effort in the heat, Sola! I caught the sun a bit this morning, even though I was out soon after 6 and ran nearly all of my 25 minutes in dappled shade! Take care in the sun.

I love the sun, but I don't like the piebald effect 😂 if I can't get up early I might have to go out mid evening once it's cooled down

Nice run for you today sola, you were correct on running slowly considering how warm it was, during warm weather, even for short runs take some liquid with you, even if it's just a 3K.

I had the water ready Al, just forgot it at the last minute, but I'll remember next time

Lovely to read this was Sola. It's hard when your rhythm gets interrupted...you're 'sitting in' and then have to stop. I find it a challenge getting going again. Well done on the run though. Another one down and a good distance too in the conditions. More confidence and positives too. 😎

I'm beginning to find out who I really am and what I really want out of life, and regular running on my own is helping me focus, mins you I might go to sleep now 😂

Well done Sola, it certainly was hot. Coach Bennett does a guided run about running in the heat - very interesting with lots of tips

I've seen that one but not run it yet! Maybe I will one day

Paul Simon, "Mother and Child Reunion" (if only for shopping). Or do you have diamonds on the soles of your running shoes? 😆

It was surprisingly warm and humid in Pwllheli this morning.

Congratulations to you, especially in the heat! I’d planned to do mine tonight but it’s still too warm. You are a legend-Nike Run Club owes you an extra badge for doing it as a hot run.

Enjoy week 3! ❤️🏃‍♀️💪

Thank you, I got 2 Garmin badges and a point on my V02MAX so feeling quite pleased, it's back in the blue from being stuck in the green for months. I've just walked the dog and my neighbour is making rumblings about a walk too, my poor legs, tomorrow I will garden and sit in the sun.

You enjoy week 3 as well, I can't believe I started week 2 on Monday

Hooray for those badges! You deserved some recognition from Mr Garmin!!! I’ve still got a couple to go and I’m on crew duty tomorrow (MrU is running the 10k we’d planned to do together but I’m not quite there yet). Hoping to get on to week 3 by Wednesday!! I love the flexibility of the NRC plans.

Enjoy your super well earned rest day in the sunshine! ☀️

Brilliant run for you today Sola. You did better than me as I didn’t venture out in the heat ,I did Pilates instead. Tomorrow I will be running and hopefully it will be cooler.🥰🥰x

Great run Sola...I bet you didn't want to go with it being sooo hot after 10am, so well done for getting out there 👍

I'm a bugger for dozing back off on a day off work so when I woke at 7.15 (alarm was set for 7.30) I made myself get up straight away before I could talk myself out of it.

Was still too hot & spent half my time chasing the shade but a darn sight cooler than yours no doubt...I was a sweaty mess when I got home, I imagine you were melting 😅

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toRun46

Thanks, I really was melting and the quick shower wasn't really enough to revive me, but I do love this warm weather

Run46 profile image
Run46Graduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

Lucky for you then as it's due to continue again next week...it's too warm for me so am looking forward to the rain we're expecting later to hopefully cool things off for an evening 😅

We could do with a lot of rain to water the gardens but not sure we will get any, just looked at the weather forecast and we might 😀

made me chuckle re the the red face and white body, I was thinking the same thing about me this morning, my face is really tanned, my arms are slightly tanned and my legs are milky white 😳 I put on sun cream on my face to stop it from getting even browner as I already look odd 🤣

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toXenaZelda

I've been putting high factor sun cream on since March and still come back a shade darker than I go out 🤣

XenaZelda profile image
XenaZelda

🤣 so do I, I look really odd, well done on 6 k run after 10 am, how did you do it, you did really well. Last week I was running for 15 km a week and this week I have cut it short as it’s too hot for me at the moment, I live in the south east and wish I could get up up at 6 to get out at 7 bit I’m working on it 😃 but I did take water out with me and did need it as I was out for an hour walking and running but unfortunately I had about 4 leakages…….say no more 🤣

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toXenaZelda

I too am in the south east and it's been really hot, now I've retired it's easier to get out more often and I'm really slow which helps. As to water, I really needed mine but forgot, I will remember next time

XenaZelda profile image
XenaZelda

oh your in the south east too, it gets really hot here doesn’t it and I knew I would struggle with the distances in the summer months, wish I was retired as I would go out running more often too, I can’t wait to retire, I’m saving up madly so I can retire early, yes you must remember to take water with you in this heat, but I think you won’t forget next time ❤️

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toXenaZelda

I worked an extra 16 months so it was time 😀

XenaZelda profile image
XenaZelda in reply toSueAppleRun

no way I’m working any extra in fact I want to retire at least 2-3 years earlier, I now need time for me to do whatever I want with a stressful job, it must be so lovely to plan your days and have time to do what you enjoy 😃❤️

That sounds like a hot run! At least you rehydrated when you got home!

I love the legs up against the wall thing after a run, I can feel all the stiffness draining out!
