No offense to all you January RED-ers out there but I’m happy that January is coming to an end. Every year I thinking it sounds like a good idea (“I’ll just do at least 10 minutes a day”) and every year it ends badly. Injuries, fatigue, guilt. I finally listened to the RunPod episode with Karen Weir and loved what she said about run streaks. I feel vindicated!
Roll in, February!

RED January doesn’t have to be running every day. Maybe next year perhaps change your goal for 10 minutes of activity instead? Or just ditch it for something that works better for you? If you’re getting fatigue, guilt and injury it definitely doesn’t sound like it’s worth doing again in its current form.
Roll on February indeed! Thanks for the podcast recommendation-I’ll look that up.
Indeed, I ditched the running after 11 days or so after niggles in my Achilles and decided to do at least 10000 steps a day. This was more pleasant and less onerous and therefore more enjoyable!
I heard Karen Weir too and bought that book for strength training - Stacey T Sims because this RED January I have focussed on strength doing yoga and walking with running when I got over my Christmas virus! Listen to the runpod with the red January founder too and rest assured they have changed the focus to MOVE everyday!!
I can empathise sofaspud - I find all these Do x every day for a month or whatever programmes oppressive rather than helpful. The moment I don't do the required activity on the prescribed day, I feel like I've failed, regardless of the reason and even if I catch up the next day.
