I'm still lurking around and trying to get my knee back into shape. The lockdown helped a bit with this as I was able to totally rest it (apart from dog walking). It still twinges around 3K into a run, but I'm getting there. Damn, meniscus repairs take a lot of time!
My Paris HM event has been postponed, postponed and finally cancelled, so, with all group events all around being cancelled left, right and centre, I've finally signed up for this Lands End to John O'Groats challenge as something to keep me motivated.
Mine starts on 1 September, and I chose the "Plant a tree" option instead of the t-shirt option, but I'll take the bling.
I saw some others are doing it, is there a group set up for it or will we just have a chat? I'll need something to help motivate me once the cold weather sets in!

Enjoy the journey. I’m still undecided having just completed a virus NC500 and started cycling more but I shall enjoy reading about your progress. Happy running 🤗
Hey BIT, how lovely to hear from you after so long! 👏👏
Yes, I started my LEJOG4 (aka End to End) this morning and logged a 4.35 mile (7k) run so I’ve left Land’s End and I’m on my way ..... 😀 I’m logging my runs and dog walks and figured I should be able to make it to JOG within the year (*touch wood*) 🤞
I don’t know about a group. There’s a FB one, but I’m not a FB fan and hardly ever go there. It would be nice to have one set up so we can chat about our runs/destinations without boring the pants off those not participating. 🏃♀️🏃🏃♀️🏃🏃♀️
Yes, over61andstilltrying . I’ve done 2 runs and 2 walks this week son far and I’ve clocked up 19.76 miles. Takes the pressure off being able to include my dog walks too. 🐾🐾
There is a pinned post by RunAroundSue called 'Roll call for the End to End Challenges' where you can add your name to the list and I believe there will be weekly posts so you can update your progress.
I hope you enjoy your journey to JoG once you get off the start line next month and good luck
I have signed up for LEJOG 5 starting 1 Sept. I had averaged it out at over 17 miles a week and I currently only run about 10 at most. The decider was runaround Sue's post which said you can include walks.
Yes there’s no way I’d have attempted such a distance if walking couldn’t be included too Runningroni . I’ve done 19.76 miles so far since starting LEJOG4 on Monday which is 2 runs and 2 walks. 😀
That's a fab start. Keep it up and you could be done in 6 months. Then again who wants to be walking/running over winter, dark and miserable? Possibly us.
Good going Cheeky. Tomorrow is my 5th day off since the beginning of the year, plan to take my new boots for a picnic walk. Will run Saturday.
Wow, you deserve that picnic walk tomorrow. Have a wonderful time, and enjoy your run on Saturday. 🥰
I’m walking tomorrow and Sunday and will do (Not) PR on Saturday, so my total for the week should be about 30 miles. The leader of our pack has already gone over 80 miles! 😱
That's amazing. Leader of the pack is clearly a cyborg stay away from them unless you have a sonic screwdriver . Tomorrow is warm up I start the LEJOG 1st Sept which will be day 6 off work . COVID is a bummer.
I’m thinking of signing up to the end to end of the Wales Coastal Path which starts on the 24th August. I will definitely need to include walks! Good to see you back !!
Hello backintime, Apologies this reply is long. I have no idea if you have time to either read it or reply.
I was having a click around various of these helpful forums and I noticed that we have had some similar injuries. As a result of overbalancing while pruning and standing on a garden wall 3 feet high and then landing with one leg locked straight, here's my list of injuries! Tibia plateau fracture, some fibula fracture, medial meniscus tear, very large Baker's cyst, cellulitis, arthritis and various lumps. I discovered the various problems over a period of time. My fall was August 11th.
My tibia fracture is apparently undisplaced (a positive) and my meniscus tear is apparently 2/3 torn through (I assume a negative) but it is also unflapped (a positive).
I am very interested to compare notes with you and find out how you are getting on with trying to run. I have had two physio telephone appointments and as result re-started C25k on Monday of this week.
On Monday I had carried out all my physio exercises, then of course, I had my physio telephone call and was given the OK to start C25k. The physio exercises are quite demanding for my knee. Then I set off on w1r1. My husband came with me so we combined it as part of our regular daily walk. I ran off then returned to my husband, repeat , repeat etc. Well walking and talking together as we do, I missed one of the prompts to run. The plan was just to tack the missed one minute run on the end when my husband had set off to go home. I was so enjoying myself and completely lost track of what time to finish. I have since looked at Garmin Connect and realise that my last run was 4 minutes so I ran 3 minutes extra ( so 11 minutes in all). After tutoring maths I carried out an unusually long, 2 hour, batch cooking session, so on my feet far too long. As a result the day's activities my knee complained and swelled up. Doesn't feel right at all, even just walking. I shall not try running again for a while and when I do it will probably one minute only without physio before or lots of cooking afterwards.
I so wonder how you are getting on. If I remember correctly your injuries were the result of a dog knocking you over and you have had an MRI (which I had too).
I do hope that your knee is getting better and better. 😊🌸
