Over the last two days I've done a lot of driving - Essex to north London to Brighton and back to Essex. The car is manual, so all that clutch work and sitting still for hours did my bad knee no favours. I woke this morning with aches and knew I needed a run. The issue: I really want to do Parkrun tomorrow and I don't normally run two days in a row.
The solution, a short and gentle recovery run. The sun was shining and the thermometer said 7C. For once I got the clothing right, short sleeved top and warm leggings so no faffing around taking a jumper off today
We decided on 3 km. The path was muddy and slippery in places, so lots of hopping from one side to the other to find the relatively dry grassy bits. The sunshine was just warm enough, a perfect temperature, and I'd put a cap on so that the low rays didn't dazzle me. It's wonderful to be outside.
We passed the halfway point and turned back. My husband said, 'Let's do a pi run' (3.14km). He uses his Garmin watch but only measures his run, while I use mine for the warmup/cooldown walk as well so can't use it to see how far I've actually run. I use the NRC app for this but it doesn't show how far I've gone when I'm out running until I pause it (need to look at the set up lol). It's much easier to for him to measure his distance run.
Anyway, we reached 3 km, then he got to 3.14 km. I checked NRC - 3.10. Ran a little bit: still 3.10. Ran a bit more: 3.11. Ran quite a bit: 3.14! Hooray! Pressed stop. The display now said 3.15km. Much gloating from the other half....until I checked Strava. This shows 3.13km for him.
So on average, between us we ran 3.14 km - a 2Οrun (shoulda run in a circle π)
PS I tried to find a picture of a running Ο symbol but I could only find pictures of Raspberry Pi computers
PPS apologies, I'm a bit of a geek sometimes
