gentle run before painting

last night was a slightly better nights sleep - only woke a couple of times and felt much more rested than yesterday. Yesterday morning I woke at3.00am, fidgeted till 4, then got up and went down to make a milky drink, then after about an hour I fell asleep cuddling littlest cat, Roma, and woke up at 9 with 2 of the bigger ones on me too, Miriam on my feet and Loki bonily on my hips ( I was on my side ). Consequently I felt rubbish all day. I had a sports massage at 11 so I just chilled for the rest of the day and had an early night last night.

With that I decided to do a short run this morning as I have planned to paint the hallway paintwork today ( well to be honest I’ve planned to do it about every day for over a week😂). So I got my gear on, quick protein shake and a banana and off I went. Yet again we have BT digging up our road and one exit is blocked off so I turned towards the left and set off with my warm up walk. It was definitely chillier this morning but I know how hot I get running so just had a thin Tee and capris on and soon was warm enough. I’ve also started wearing a sweatband on my wrist from when it was so hot in the summer, as I hate it when sweat drips in my eyes. My daughter says her head doesn’t sweat when she runs and she is a lot faster than me but my head seems to leak like a sieve when I run. So to cheer myself up I ordered a neon set from Amazon and now have 2 bright pink, 2 lime green and 2 neon orange ones and the headbands to match but I only wore those once ( felt a bit silly 🙄). Like a 70s revival!!

Anyway I didn’t really need them today either. I don’t know if it’s because it’s cooler now or maybe I am getting fitter at last but I barely sweated today. I just ran around the edge of town, across a little bridge, in and around an estate, along the side of the Yeo, through a little cut through, and then after 15 minutes I took a one minute walk break and then ran for another 15 minutes and walked home.

It felt like I was just bimbling along comfortably, breathing was easy and legs felt great so I assumed it was a slow run. Yet when I was eating breakfast I checked my stats and usually I run at about 13.15-13.45min per mile and today the first 15 mins was at 14.19 ( round about what I expected ) but the second run was at 13.06!!! It really didn’t feel like it so that was unexpected. And I strolled home and felt like I’d just been for a walk. Usually I get in and can’t wait to swill myself in the shower.

Unfortunately my plans for painting took a bit of a dive as I’d decided I’d get straight on with it, changed into painting gear after my breakfast, then procrastinated for best part of two hours while I looked for paintbrushes, couldn’t find any, ended up tidying my garage and throwing lots of stuff away and then found 11 brushes!!! And then stopped for a sandwich…. Now I have a small cat asleep on me but I WILL get on with it just as soon as I send this report …. Honest!!!

Great run, I love the slower ones.

As to the painting, or lack of, blame the cat 😹

they are such timewasters aren’t they? I was going to run earlier today but one got on me and I am still sat in my running clothes working up to going now !!😂

That is one adorable little cat! 🥰 It’s so nice when you get an unexpectedly quick time when it felt slow and comfortable. Well done! Whatever you’re doing is obviously working!

Bimbling around seems perfect and you got faster, always something to smile about. Painting? that’ll get done when you are ready and at least you know where the paint brushes are now 😀

Your black cat looks just like our black cat but there the similarity ends, ours won’t curl up on laps, swipes at us as we walk past, crouches ready for us to fall over when we leave the bathroom, but hey, he’s not bit us for a while so maybe one day he’ll sit on laps

the one in my lap is my daughters tiny one. We got her and my black floofy one 4 years ago this month from a rescue. Lol’s one Roma is very vocal, seems really confident, likes to join conversations and talk over you, always out hunting and playing but doesn’t like being picked up. She will occasionally hop in a lap when she is absolutely shattered and stay there for hours

My Luna was very very nervous when we got her ( she was born wild at Heligan gardens and caught at about 3 months so missed the initial human bonding)and hid behind the settee for the first few weeks but she comes to greet everyone now and slides round and round their legs and gets in MY lap every evening - only for a short time then something spooks her and off she goes. And she likes being picked up for a short cuddle as long as there is noone else in the room, and no one else is sneaking up to put fleadrops on her. She does lots of headboops and really butts quite hard when she does them.

I’ve had so many cats over the years but this one is probably the most pouncy, swipy and bitey than any of the others although my last black cat couldn’t be stroked, he’d come wrap all round you purring loudly, 3 strokes and back off though because he would scratch to ribbons if you tried for a 4th stroke

z your cats are lovely and it’s great to have them around

Great post. Your way of painting sounds very like mine, although mine would have ended with my buying more brushes and later finding some in a cupboard under the stairs

It's so satisfying when you get a great surprise when checking your stats.

Glad to hear you got a better nights sleep 💤

the funny thing was it has come up on my Facebook memories , from 5 and 10 years ago , where 10 years ago I was hunting in the garage for paint rollers and couldn’t find them and 5 years ago it was brushes again!!😂

Now there’s just me living here I might actually manage to keep my painting equipment in the large black tote labelled “Painting”!!!!
