I woke up yesterday morning realising why people do a bit more distance training before attempting a 10K 😂 I'd never noticed my quadriceps before! Anyway, it was just a dull ache, not constant, an occasional reminder that I'd exerted myself a bit more than usual. I was still so happy to have done the run it really didn't matter.
I also discovered that sitting still was a bad idea, so had a busy day, cleaning out and organising my kitchen cupboards then a gentle 4km walk to the post office and back.
Today I was back to running, but gently. The NRC Stress Free run sounded about right, Coach Bennett and Andy Puddicombe doing mindfulness for 25 minutes.
As we started walking I saw a magnificent cat doing an owl impersonation on a garden wall. It gave us a disdainful look. I told my husband I'd be going slowly, and I did. About 2km in he decided he wanted to go a bit quicker so took off, leaving me to enjoy putting one foot in front of the other in the Autumn sunshine. Very slow, very easy, nice.
When I looked at the NRC app it had given me a badge for running on the International Day of the Girl! Always nice to get some (virtual) bling

Oh my goodness this was me after mine. Really hope it’s quick for you to recover! Well done for getting out and moving. It’s such a beautiful day.
Running on the international day of the girl! What a random badge to get. I’ve just looked at my NRC app and it’s given me a badge for running on world mental health day yesterday. I guess that’s given me a mental health boost! 🏅
Stress free run is going on my list. I did the running on empty one last week and that was great. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Feeling so much better after this morning's run thanks, it's sort of shaken out the knots! The Stress Free run was really good for a morning when I didn't need any pressure at all, recommended.
Ah, that happens, good to have gently run out the knots, aches and tightness.
Many years ago my sister used to do a 10k loop over the South downs, one day I decided to walk to the top of the hill, about a mile, meet her at the top and run back down with her, I hadn’t run for about 30 years, it was great, it was exhilarating, I felt invincible, got up next morning, creaked out of bed, attempted to sit on the loo, oh, oh, oh, the only way i could lower myself was by hanging on tight to the towel rail one side and leaning on the basin the other, oh the pain…..was another ten or more years before I ran again, thank goodness we found C25K
I ran down that hill this summer, no ill affects at all 😀
