One of my daughter's friends sent me a link to join this Vitality Running World Cup. While the cynic in me said 'huh, just a marketing exercise to give my email to running companies' ... my heart said 'yes, why not .... and who am I to turn down running discounts anyway' ๐๐๐
Anyone fancy contributing some kilometres for their country?
Yup, am signed up and ready to go! Linked to strava and Samsung health apps, but I think you have to load the app and make sure your runs are counted or they don't get on there... At least that is what it looks like to me!
Hi - seemed to be - You set up a team and then send a link to whoever you want to be in your team. So you could post on here for people to join if they want to. I'm not sure whether it should be an administrator on this forum that manages this process, but I am happy to if no-one objects and others are interested
I've checked with HU admin and there's no problem in setting up a team and posting it on here for people to join ๐. Given you were much more on the ball than me, I suggest you go for it - create the HU team and then make a post here on Bridge for people to join via the link you create (thank you for offering to do it). I can then make a post on the marathon and race support forum linking to your post or to the link itself (unless you'd like to join that forum, in which case you'd be able to add the post there yourself).
I hesitated to promote the Cup on C25K in case any newbies feel they have to try to run 3k in 30 minutes - not a suggestion we would ordinarily push! However, if you'd like to promote the team on the C25K forum, it might be as well to stress that we don't suggest anyone should push themselves beyond their comfortable, easy pace and therefore it might be of more interest to people who have already graduated and are already covering that distance in 30 minutes.
Does that all sound OK? ๐. Again, thanks for the idea and the offer to set it all up - should be good fun to see how much we can do ๐
Hi....I'll add a separate post in a sec, but here's the link app.runningworldcup.com/tea.... Thank for offering to add to the marathon forum....I'm not ready to head over ther just yet ;-). Agree with you on the C2K.
Perfect. When you're ready, Marathon and Race support is a lovely, friendly place to be - most of us still have no intention of running a marathon ๐คฉ
I just tried the link and got an error before it let me join 'oops something went wrong on our servers' ... although it clearly knew I was trying to join a Healtunlocked team. Will try again in a bit.
to be fair, it was marketed very well.... but there are always those who miss these things (mentioning no names!!) so always worth a post.......... even if just for the banter! ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐ช
Quite a lot of us did a virtual race last year and set up a HU team but I then discovered you need to go public with Strava , which I am not willing to do. I like to be in control of information such as my running routes and routines. Iโm probably a bit more wary than most.
Hi Iโve just registered with this and joined the HU team. Looks like I managed to connect my Fitbit too and it has picked up the run I did this morning- just 2.45 km but was only a 20 min run anyway. I should be off out again Sunday for a 50 minute run so fingers crossed it will register that one too and itโll be over 3km. Not sure how well/far Iโll get with this but the more the merrier!!
My goal is showing as the qualifying 5k and still to do. There is a list of my last 3 runs that have been picked up from my Fitbit. In the HU team by my name ( vicky turner, not my HU tag name) it lists the 2.45km so I may have misunderstood what counted where! Will see where Sundayโs run goes!
