I have finally heard back from the Vitality Running World Cup support team! I queried whether or not we would be penalised if we used our forum names rather than our real names to sign up for the Vitality Running World Cup (for anyone who wished to preserve anonymity, or simply wanted to be recognised by their HU member name).
It seems it's OK to use our HU names. This is the reply I received 'hi thanks for your query, you will not be penalised if you use fake names, but we do monitor for fraudulent activity to avoid multiple sign ups by individuals, thanks.
Dan from Running World Cup'
For anyone who hasn't signed up but would like to, there is still time. You can register here runningworldcup.com/. Once registered, you can join the HU team by using this link app.runningworldcup.com/tea...
You will be added to the team with whatever name you signed up to the Vitality challenge with 😊
For anyone who has signed up but would like to change their name to reflect their HU name, you can do so by editing your profile via this link app.runningworldcup.com/pro...

Thanks! I didnt see the tag but saw the message. It’s not tracking my runs, I wonder if that’s something to do with the name although i attached both fitbit and strava to it....
I changed my name and it's picking up my runs from strava fine. I assumed it had used my email address to make the connection - I can't think of anything else it could use.
on the VRWC website I click on 'My Runs', that gives me a screen showing Strava as my linked tracker; if I then click on that Strava icon all my runs are listed.
Are you definitely using the same email address for VRWC as you use for your strava account?
That's right. Nothing counts til then. Having said that, you should still be able to see your runs through the app or through the website - whilst they don't 'count' yet, it's a nice way to check whether everything has linked up OK.
I have signed up for it using my AlMorr username as the same as Healthunlocked C25K /B210K, does this World Running Cup mean I have to run a 5K or 10K in a certain number of times a week or month?
Not at all! You just need to try to record some kms on the days in question - all the info is on their website in the timeline section. The only specific requirement is that you show you can run 3km in 30 minutes during the qualifying period which begins on 5th March, but obviously only do that if that's appropriate to your current running.
Surely not! What make you think that? I don't have any Apple products but when I look at my account it has successfully picked up my runs from Strava. I also managed to download the VRWC app to my android phone.
I got a message from them, it said that using a screen shot you had to have the Apple products with a iPhone, they hoped by 2021 that other users would be able to compete, however, who knows others maybe able to compete this year.
I downloaded the World Running app from the Android Google App Store, it does seem a bit strange being able to get that app that people with a Android Smartphone cannot take part in the actual running, is it possible to find out who can take part and who cannot.
How bizarre! What were you proposing to screenshot?
Do you not use any of the trackers they list then? Because if you do, you definitely don't need an Apple phone - you can open Strava or Mapmyrun on your android phone for each run.
I have Mapmyrun, I thought that would be enough, take a screenshot of my run and post on to them the way I have posted screenshots and photos here on C25K or B210K, but the message gave the impression that you have to do it through Apple iPhone, it did not say anyone with Android could not run but did mention that other ways would be next year, perhaps I will get another message saying that you can take screenshots by way of the likes of Mapmyrun, I will let you know if I do.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something here - apologies if I am.
If you have (and use) mapmyrun to record your runs, I don't think you need to screenshot them.
In your VRWC account, set your tracker to mapmyrun. Then any runs you record in mapmyrun should automatically be picked up in your VRWC account. Once you set your linked tracker to mapmyrun you should see any runs you record in mapmyrun (even before the qualifying period starts).
Hi Linda, I linked my Garmin when I signed up and just checked my runs and it isn't showing any runs even though I have logged runs on there since I signed up. I must be doing something wrong...
I had only tried Strava. It correctly shows my runs from 6th Feb onwards even though I only signed up on 15th Feb.
I've just gone in and connected to Garmin as well (which has all the same runs recorded because that's where my strava account gets them from), but none of the runs show for the Garmin tracker (even though it said it had successfully linked the new tracker).
Unfortunately I'm not running at the moment, so I'm not going to be able to check whether any new runs show up or not. I wonder if anyone else is using Garmin as their tracker and is successfully seeing their runs 🤔
I wonder if it has anything to do with privacy settings within Garmin? I know my strava settings allow people to view my activities. It's possible I have tighter privacy settings in Garmin. I'll see if I can find anything.
In Garmin connect, looking at my profile, then account information; I can see that VRWC is a connected app. When I then looked at prvacy settings, I had everything set so that only I could view them (including activities). I've now changed that, but it says the change will onpy be applied to future activities ..... and as I say I can't run just now! If you get chance, maybe you could check your garmin settings and try it out?
Thanks Linda, haven't had chance to look at this yet but will do. Hoping to be well enough to get the qualifying run in in time. Hope your foot is up to it too 🤞
Is it picking them up from strava or from garmin? Mine still shows nothing for garmin if I go in via the website. I've posted a foot update over on marathon - but I'm cautiously optimistic it will be OK in time. Thanks for asking 🤞
I did a fake run lazt night and it showed, so privacy settings was the idsue I think. Will do a separate post suggesting people check before 5th March 🙂
Hello AlMorr, the first run to qualify you to take part in the Running world cup is a run of 3k or more in 30 minutes between the 5th and the 11th of March 2020. After that you can run any distance😊
It should pick up automatically from strava - and it was picking up retrospectively. But! You need to open up your strava activity privacy settings to 'everyone'. Also people have been reporting problems with strava but it was updating immediately on the website. Does it not show in 'my runs' on the website, even if privacy is set to everyone?
Their standard reply is to wait 24 hours and if it still doesn't appear then to use their form. This is what they sent me: 'We are sorry you have having issues with getting your run into our system but please do allow 24 hours for it to appear before worrying. If it has not appeared after 24 hours, we have a document that hopefully can help, and also a manual process if you are really stuck to ensure that your run will be on your account, please visit runningworldcup.com/runs-no... for full details. Many thanks'
Fabulous. Have you checked to see if it has registered OK. If it has, you should be able to see your name in the team list with the appropriate distance via this link app.runningworldcup.com/tea...
