Vitality Running World Cup

(apologies if you've already seen this)

One of my daughter's friends sent me a link to join this Vitality Running World Cup. While the cynic in me said 'huh, just a marketing exercise to give my email to running companies' ... my heart said 'yes, why not .... and who am I to turn down running discounts anyway' 😍😍😍

Anyone fancy contributing some kilometres for their country?

Hi I’ve signed up and downloaded the app but not really sure how it works 😊

You got further than me. I didn't download the app, but I did connect my web account with strava so I was hoping all I have to do now is run 😍

Wel I guess between us I’m sure we’ll work it out. Oh yes I forgot about the running bit 😊

Just checked and my app and it is linked to Strava more by luck than judgement 😊

Luck? or that uncanny knack technology has for discovering all sorts of things, links and information about us?

Paranoid? Me? pah! 😨

From the 5th of March you've got one week to add your qualifying run of 3k in 30 minutes

I'm already signed up and linked through Strava. Should be fun😊

Yup, am signed up and ready to go! Linked to strava and Samsung health apps, but I think you have to load the app and make sure your runs are counted or they don't get on there... At least that is what it looks like to me!

linda9389 profile image
linda9389Graduate10 in reply to Smelliepoo

I thought I was ok by linking strava thru the website, but I will double check!

Smelliepoo profile image

It is probably different if you are just usi g the website and not the app, but don't know!

Maybe we could make up a team of VRBs 😊

linda9389 profile image
linda9389Graduate10 in reply to Sparkey5000

Is that easy to do?

Sparkey5000 profile image
Sparkey500060minGraduate in reply to linda9389

Hi - seemed to be - You set up a team and then send a link to whoever you want to be in your team. So you could post on here for people to join if they want to. I'm not sure whether it should be an administrator on this forum that manages this process, but I am happy to if no-one objects and others are interested

linda9389 profile image
linda9389Graduate10 in reply to Sparkey5000

I've checked with HU admin and there's no problem in setting up a team and posting it on here for people to join 😍. Given you were much more on the ball than me, I suggest you go for it - create the HU team and then make a post here on Bridge for people to join via the link you create (thank you for offering to do it). I can then make a post on the marathon and race support forum linking to your post or to the link itself (unless you'd like to join that forum, in which case you'd be able to add the post there yourself).

I hesitated to promote the Cup on C25K in case any newbies feel they have to try to run 3k in 30 minutes - not a suggestion we would ordinarily push! However, if you'd like to promote the team on the C25K forum, it might be as well to stress that we don't suggest anyone should push themselves beyond their comfortable, easy pace and therefore it might be of more interest to people who have already graduated and are already covering that distance in 30 minutes.

Does that all sound OK? 🙂. Again, thanks for the idea and the offer to set it all up - should be good fun to see how much we can do 😍

Hi....I'll add a separate post in a sec, but here's the link app.runningworldcup.com/tea.... Thank for offering to add to the marathon forum....I'm not ready to head over ther just yet ;-). Agree with you on the C2K.

Perfect. When you're ready, Marathon and Race support is a lovely, friendly place to be - most of us still have no intention of running a marathon 🤩

Thank you - I love these forums, get so much joy out of hearing about everyone's progress and the help I get as I move towards 10km

I just tried the link and got an error before it let me join 'oops something went wrong on our servers' ... although it clearly knew I was trying to join a Healtunlocked team. Will try again in a bit.

Tried again. This time it took me straight to the team and I was already there. I guess it did work despite the error!

Signed up too some time ago when I got email from parkrun about it ☺️

For a novice runner like me it feels quite exciting to take part in something like this!

Dexy5 profile image

Quite a lot of us did a virtual race last year and set up a HU team but I then discovered you need to go public with Strava , which I am not willing to do. I like to be in control of information such as my running routes and routines. I’m probably a bit more wary than most.

Have fun !

There may be other options for tracking your runs - although manually adding them definitely wasn't allowed, I do remember that

I am in managed to register was already in the World Cup just didn’t have a Team well I do now

Hi I’ve just registered with this and joined the HU team. Looks like I managed to connect my Fitbit too and it has picked up the run I did this morning- just 2.45 km but was only a 20 min run anyway. I should be off out again Sunday for a 50 minute run so fingers crossed it will register that one too and it’ll be over 3km. Not sure how well/far I’ll get with this but the more the merrier!!

linda9389 profile image
linda9389Graduate10 in reply to RunVicRun

Excellent. Interesting that it has picked up the 2.45km, even though they say only 3km plus runs will count. Enjoy your run at the weekend

linda9389 profile image
linda9389Graduate10 in reply to RunVicRun

Out of interest, if you look at your goal page on the VRWC website, has the 2.45k recorded - does it say you have run 2.45 already there?

RunVicRun profile image
RunVicRun60minGraduate in reply to linda9389

My goal is showing as the qualifying 5k and still to do. There is a list of my last 3 runs that have been picked up from my Fitbit. In the HU team by my name ( vicky turner, not my HU tag name) it lists the 2.45km so I may have misunderstood what counted where! Will see where Sunday’s run goes!

linda9389 profile image
linda9389Graduate10 in reply to RunVicRun

At least you can see it has been recognized but I think this confirms that runs will only count to goal and country total when over 3k.
