Low heart rate run

Day 5 and I have a day off work so didn’t want to do avery short run, chose a 40 minute run on the plan, it was all about goal setting this morning.

Willow has achey knees (surprise surprise) and wasn’t running and although cloudy, at 27 degrees a good place to sit was the beach.

We had a lousy night last night, I woke at 4 to find Willow hadn’t gone to sleep yet, we both drifted off some time after 5 and were awake by 8 feeling very lethargic.

So, Willow sat on the beach and I took the slowest most gentle run, 20 minutes east then 20 minutes back west. My pace was about the same pace we ran when we started C25k and were flat out then, now it’s breathe easy, legs plodding along, smiling at others coming the other way. I saw birds, sparrows, swifts swoop across the lake to my left, sea on the right, a white crested egret in the water, numerous butterflies and flowers too.

That was a lovely run and I got back to a very happy Willow who had been in the sea, so in I went then lay and dried.

It was good to run all the way and not wear myself out running faster at the beginning

Stay coool if you can

A gentle run was the perfect choice for today W&S. I must say I was tempted to jump in the sea after my run today but was meeting the motley crew for breakfast as we haven’t been all together for a few weeks now. French toast and iced mocha went down well.

Sounds delicious Dexy, it’s still hot but a bit cloudy and when I turned round there was a little breeze across my face which was welcome,

Yes that breeze was lovely

Yay well done! It sounds like a proper recovery run and even better if followed by a swim 😃

It felt just perfect and I’ve decided I’m not pushing speed but will keep increasing distance or time

Yes, I'm definitely going down that route. Although I will still enjoy the NRC speed workouts but not putting any pressure on myself to do a particular distance in a particular time 👍

I think it was you that said about time rather than distance, I’m with you on the speed runs, they make me laugh and feel exhilarated

It was and I think I’ve finally decided especially in this heat that there’s no point getting puffed out just run longer….. apart from the hill run, I get puffed out then 😂
