I’d like to send it back and get another.
13 weeks to go and I’m ever so excited, I have 3 days off work 😀
Slept like a log last night, woke at 4 cup of tea read a bit and back to sleep at 6
Willow twisted his knee walking from the bedroom to the kitchen, so he decided to walk today.
To the river and off we go, NRC long run of the week 6.4k or 4 miles. I set off slow and steady warming up nicely, along the track edged by swathes of Ox eye daisy’s. It still hurts when I breathe in through my mouth so breathing in mostly through my nose.
The playlist I chose is called Jubilee, I guess all singers are British, it’s a good mix of old and really old.
1k done and I’m smiling, my legs feel stronger than they did so the regular runs, the speed runs and the longer easy runs seem to be making a difference already.
2k run, this is lovely, only four and a bit to go.
Greeting people as they pass, a runner is come big towards me in the middle of the track, I vere to the side and admire his form, tall and young with very defined muscles, I don’t think he even sees me, I briefly feel old and slow, then I feel proud, I’m 66 and I’m running.
Then I get to 3k and I can see where the path divides, right to go further left to come back along the river path or turn round and run back the way I came.
And this is why I want to change my brain because I turned left, the river path is not only undulating, narrow in parts, with lots of tufts of grass and rabbit holes to dodge, it’s also wet and chalky in places. I immediately slow right down. It’s lovely though to see the river the trees and fields
I really am plodding, dodging and grinning. 4k and ooo 5k run. This is the longest I’ve run since beginning of year. I did this a few weeks ago but there was a lot of walking on the river path, I walked 8k with Jo a while ago with a bit of running but I’m still running even though it’s slow.
I’m beginning to tire, there’s a slight ache in my left hip and I’m getting a little fed up of the unevenness of the path. Then Lou Lou comes on in my ears singing Shout so I sing along and keep going.
Then my breathing doesn’t feel so good, takes me a minute of wondering why before i get my tissue out and blow my nose, that’s better 😀
6k and the flyover looks a long way away, I know it’s half a kilometre from flyover to bridge where i started. The sun has gone and the clouds are building dark grey. The tide is coming in and the river is looking deep and brooding.
At the flyover NRC tells me I’ve run 6.4 and this run is done, I keep going to 7k on my Garmin and stop the lot,
So that runs done, home, stretch, put a couple croissants in the oven to crisp up, feet up and feeling good. I thought Garmin would have aged me for that longer slower run but no, still 56
Willow walked around 4k but his knee is still a bit sore so I gave him one of my super duper anti inflammatory pain pills that I took post surgery
Run happy all or heal well if you need
