Four weeks ago I extended my 10k route and ran to Greenwich Park and back home to again.
I made sure I was well hydrated yesterday as I found I felt heavy in the legs on my 2 runs earlier this week and I know I did not drink enough on the days before.
I've learned it's best to eat something prior to my 10k runs and porridge fits the bill perfectly. It really helped as I didn't feel hungry afterwards, although I really enjoyed my bagel and Moroccan topped hummus when I got home.
I started my run at 8.00 am, it was cool and hazy with a light breeze. This morning I decided to run along the Thames Path from Deptford to Central London and ended up running to Vauxhall Station on what was a beautiful, warm day. ☀️🌞
There were lots of tourists and runners about, but not so many that I had to dodge them. Early is definitely better on this route from London Bridge onwards.
By the time I reached Shakespeare's Globe and Tate Modern, the sun was blazing in a beautiful blue sky and I never tire of hearing Big Ben's bongs. 🔔🔔
When I finished the run I drank the 500ml of water I had in a soft flask but needed more so bought a 500ml bottle and drank that on my way home.
Normally I run with music but I did the entire run with no music, podcasts or audio. Slow and steady always. I found this 'naked' run really enjoyable and satisfying.
Happy Easter everyone. 😊
