Well this morning it looked like it was going to be a very soggy run, and I was glad I’d signed up for a virtual Halloween 10k race with medal, as I might have not gotten out there otherwise.
But monitoring the weather via the met office app, I realised there might be a window of less rain mid morning.
So I was ready, and the start of my run was in that beautiful of weathers where everything felt sparkling fresh after a shower, whilst the sun broke through and the blue sky peeked through increasing number of gaps in the less-and-less greyish sky.
And I had every kind of autumn weather on this run: refreshing drizzle, blustery winds, warming sunshine, steaming warmth, and sogging pouring rain.
I had chosen to repeat one of my loops twice, not yet wanting to venture out into the muddy unknown, as the rain had surely allowed various routes to become the equivalent of mud fun runs.
Not wanting to have that additional element to struggle with as I consolidate my 10k, I think it was a good choice. My feet stayed fairly dry and mud free, and I could focus on running and not navigating a new or slippery route.
I chose NRC’s 10k race audio guided run with Bennet, and his chatter and the associated Spotify music is actually really quite motivating for this run.
But I have yet to make 10ks feel more normal. I felt quite exhausted on arriving home.
This ends my 3rd week of my 10k consolidation plan. (Details here healthunlocked.com/bridgeto... ). Next week will focus again on a mixture of runs, including intervals, and a revisit to Runkeeper’s different voices, as well as trying out one of its audio coached runs.
Later today I’ll also be doing a scary yoga practice 🎃🤣, details here healthunlocked.com/strength...
Happy running Halloween everyone!
