Another 10k

Thats another 10k in the bag and I should be pleased with that. I must confess though, I found it tough today. Very tough. But pleased I managed to mentally battle my way through courtesy of some great sounds from Oasis, Joan Jett, Rocky, Rolling Stones and Sham 69 to name but a few.

I had to get this done today. I am on my holibobs for the next few days and forecast some excess eating and drinking.

With a number of chores completed out the door i went with a single layer top and lightweight waterproof. A bit blustery and drizzly but not too bad. Around the corner I went to the start of the uphill 3km path and all hell let loose.

Blimey, the wind battered me all the way. Why then, after the hard yards and looking forward to the downhill wind assisted rewards does the wind stop! Out of order.....

By 6km my legs were aching. I also felt a pain in my right thigh. I feel as though I have been running lop sided and landing really heavy on one leg.

Down the streets I ran, every corner greeting me with renewed bursts of wind either head on or sideways. How about a tailwind at some point?

At 8km I felt like I was going backwards. It was mentally and physically draining me to keep going so strong was the wind. To the corner on the home straight at 9km - the wind subsided at last and I managed to wobble my ass over the finish line. That was blooming hard.

I never once looked at my watch during the run (this is good) and I was amazed to discover I ran it almost exactly the same speed as last week 1hr 5 mins. I was in fact 3 seconds slower so with a bit more effort could have had a PB. Grrrrr! 🤣🤣🤣

Stay safe everyone and happy running 🏃‍♂️

For the PB you really should have had a tail wind. 🌬

Running into heavy wind is hard so well done for maintaining consistency 👍

There’ll be another PB around the corner soon….

Headwinds are such hard work. Next time it's windy try and arrange the headwind on the way out when you're fresh and then on the way home the tailwind will help speed you along once your energy starts to flag.Well done on the 10k!

Wow! What a run! Careful with that hip though!

Bless you Roxdog. My thigh seems ok at the moment but that horrid hip is really grumbling.

A few more beers by the roaring fire in the pub will see me fine hopefully 😁
