My second 10k, at last!

Yay! I've finally managed my second 10k, three and a half months since my first.

There was no running club at work today as the coach is on holiday, but I decided I couldn't just sit in the office and went off by myself. I decided to deviate from the usual route and add a bit to it. By the time I'd covered our usual lunchtime 6k distance I was still some way from work.....hmmm, I thought, maybe I can squeeze a 10k in here.....

It was tough going. I managed to sting my legs on nettles running along overgrown tracks, my right foot did it's old trick of going to sleep at 7k and my left achilles started niggling again. I beat my PR by just over 4 minutes though and I have noticed that I have some muscle definition in my legs for the first time in my life!!

Happy running :)

Thanks Jan. Yes, it was a bit on the muggy side. I was glad when I reached the woods!

Good work, Mike! And in this heat, too! I have been whinging all day about how hot my early morning run was!

Great pin(s) too. 😁

Great stuff Mike, excellent run 🏃🏃

I, on the other hand, have more Varicose vein definition since I’ve been running 😂

Hmm, I think one of mine might be doing that......

in reply toTedG

Oh, the thread veins on my left (injured) leg seem to have reduced with running. i put it down to the blood pumping through more actively.

Man, you’re even fast running 10k! Great job (on the run and the muscle definition)

Well done Mike and a great time to boot.

Thanks Richard. I was hoping to knock more than 4 minutes off my previous time, but it was heavy going today in the heat.

Well done! And I have muscle definition too (though my legs aren't as hairy as yours!). We have to keep at it - it's sad to think how quickly all that running fitness could vanish if we stopped making the effort xx

Nicely done! 4 mins off your time is impressive. You sure can run fast when you have to get back to work. Hope the boss was suitably impressed too.

Thank you. I'm in the office by myself this week, so there was nobody to impress!
