another one in the bag!!

So I watched all the reports of the 70mph winds, that were coming our way , with some trepidation, as I had planned to run today before going into town with my friend at lunchtime. And even though I had had another broken nights sleep ( after a week of solid sleeping through the nights) I decided I’d give it a go.

I was either going to do the 3rd run of B210k or just repeat Week 9 of C25k depending on how I felt when I got out there but as it was, I ended up running Week 3 in error. I must have let my podcasts run over at the end of my last run and it had started the week 3 run. This morning, not having my lenses in, I just restarted the podcast and off I went.

So usually he says after 5 mins, “ you have 10 mins left. “ but I glanced at my watch and realised I’d been running for 6 mins and no one had said anything. That’s when it dawned on me “ this is the 3 X 17 min one!!🥴”. Arrrggh!!! And I was running into the wind ( nearly running at a 45 degree angle it was sooo windy. ). And of course I’d automatically turned and ran along the Tarka Trail, which being alongside the estuary was really blowy. It was still a beautiful morning though and I really enjoyed my run. And especially when I turned round at halfway and ran with the wind behind me for that half. Much better!!

I changed up my route a bit today. Ran my reverse route along past the Pilton college, which gets the uphill bit out of the way early. Then I managed to time it right to cross the carriageway as the lights were all in my favour and I finished my run coming back through the Tarka Trail and admiring the really high tide on the way. New moon on Monday so the tides are still pretty high and had come out over the wall along the quayside in places too.

All I all I’m glad I went out, even though it ended up being further than I’d intended it was still pretty speedy ( for me) even fighting against the wind. And I got back in time to do my Gentle Pilates session as a cool down and stretch session before I gratefully went in the shower.

Great start to the day😁

Flipping wind! It’s always in your face whichever way you’re running. Except when your hair is half falling out of your ponytail and the wind blows it so it sticks in your mouth and all o we your glasses. Basically, wind is a pain!!

Sounds like you still had a super run despite the inclement conditions. Those always make me feel like a hero! You should too!! Beautiful place to run as a bonus!
