A slow and slippery return run !

So it has been many weeks since i last had a run , infact it was 25th November

For those who are regular questers you may well remember I was having sinus problems and headaches from mid November, I actually thought I was getting over it on the 25th when I last ran, But no !

So , after several more weeks of Chronic sinusitis and two courses of antibiotics it is finally at a stage where I feel I can run again !

So fingers crossed I'm now on top of it .

I have an afternoon work start today and the forecast looked good , albeit cold .

I decided to go just after school start at 08:30

It was dry and bright but only zero degrees.

I had running tights , fairly heavy long sleeved running top and a thin running jacket and gloves

It was cold on my warm up but ok after starting to run .

I went out planning on doing a gentle 3k (If I could) but ready to accept whatever happened.

I was going to do the NRC 3k run but couldn't get my NRC app to work so ditched that idea and went with David Bowie's The man who sold the world .

That brought back memories of seeing him live many years ago in Manchester !

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised when I started to run , it felt good and I soon settleled into a steady pace and started to warm up .

Straight away I realised how much I had been missing this .

The pavements were a little slippy in places so needed to concentrate on where I was running.

I was still feeling good at 1k and 2k.

My pace was low but I don't care about that .

Most importantly I had no niggles !

But I could feel my aerobic capacity was less than it was .

I managed the 3k without any issues and decided to stop at that .

I will probably do a few more short runs to get back into it .

I don't want to push my luck .

Back home , stretches done and porridge for breakfast!

Looking on Garmin connect, my fitness age has now dropped to my real age for the first time !

No surprise there but now to try and get it down again .

Time for a hot shower !

Happy running! 😁

Welcome back Ian! That's a pretty good comeback run.

Mr Garmin has been punishing me every time I go out since I restarted c25k - I'm aging visibly now! What does he know? 😁

Bravo Instructor57 ! πŸ™ŒπŸ‘πŸ˜Š So glad to hear your news and that it was such a good one. Your plan sounds perfect: keep things gentle, short and sweet… no big demands… and keep that enjoyment factor uppermost.

Hurrah Ian! So good to see you out again, and that’s brilliant there were no niggles. It is icy out there isn’t it, but with David B rather than Coach B for company you were in good hands. He was a class act, wasn’t he. Happy running! 😊😊😊

Thanks Kate !Yes it was a bit slippy .

But a nice morning with a good playlist so good to be back out 😁

Yay that's fantastic! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ I also have sinus problems, they're such a pain πŸ˜’ I always have to chew gum when I go for a run, for some reason it helps me breathe πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ hope it's a smooth comeback for you πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘

Thank you !Yes it's not much fun is it 😐.

I have suffered with it for most of my adult life but this has been the worst for a few years .

The worst pain for me is a decent when flying

Beatlesforever profile image
BeatlesforeverGraduate10β€’ in reply toInstructor57

It is very annoying. They don't tend to bother me too much when flying but they seem to get irritated by random things and they start playing up. Sometimes I can't get rid of the headaches for days πŸ˜’ hopefully you'll stay sinusitis-free for a long while. Happy return to running 😁

Bless you I57, sounds like you've had a rubbish time of it...my injury was more frustrating than anything as at least I didn't feel rough.

Well done on the 3K, I stopped at 2.5 as I was worried about over-doing it too.

Sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed it as did I...good luck for the next one 😊

Good to see you back running again, Bowie music and that road to run on what could be better? 3k is a good distance, ignore Garmin he’s fickle, just adds and takes away years on a whim

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10β€’ in reply toSueAppleRun

Yes, I enjoyed the music and the run.Head is a bit off again today though !

And yes , Mr Garmin knows what he can do !! 😁

Well done on getting out there again and for stopping at 3K instead of pushing on. Are there plans to run regularly again?
