‘Stripping off’ during a run

I started my run this afternoon wearing a sports bra, loose vest and fleecy long sleeved top. By 3k I had to take my fleecy top off (I’ve never stripped off during a run before) as it was just too warm. I’ve always seen runners in winter running in vest and shorts and thought ‘how can you do that?’ But today, I was chuckling to myself as I passed pedestrians in their thick winter coats and wool hats and I wasn’t even noticing the cold on my shoulders - it felt like a summers day! I think I’m converted to running in my vest now even in February.

Did anyone else find this today? Is it finally getting milder??

Yes it was warm today. I faffed about for ages deciding what to wear and in the end wore a summer kit! Definitely not a day for a fleece 🥵

I’m so used to putting on a top over my base layers I didn’t even think about it being too warm 🙈

Running in your vest??!! 😵 Nooooo! Long sleeves for me still but not a fleece. Felt a bit milder today - but sleet and hail forecast for this week 😖

Now see I always thought I’d be a long sleeved runner - even in the summer, but honestly, once the long sleeved top came off I didn’t feel cold at all!

Hmmmm not convinced! Not for me, that is. You must run warm!

I’m with you about today! My long sleeve top was in the wash, so short sleeve loose t-shirt and a long sleeve zip top over it. Soon I was glad of the short sleeves, and then unzipping the top layer to let it flap in the breeze! It only stayed on because 1) I needed the pocket, and 2) it was a short run. 👍🤣 In spite of the storm warnings, I reckon Spring must be moving nearer. Hurray! 🎉🎉🎉🎶🎉

Hurray Granspeed 🏃‍♀️☀️ I’m so glad I put my vest on. I’m not sure anyone would have needed to see me run in just my sports bra 😆🥵

I ran today in what I've been wearing the last couple of months, what I did notice was the amount of sweat on my body and running down my face when finished ☺️☺️

We are all different - the only time I add an extra layer is if it is chucking it down with rain and then I wear a lightweight water resistant top and peaked cap to keep the water out of my eyes! In winter, I never manage to keep a beanie on because I get too hot - although I do like a pair of running gloves when it's chilly. I opted for a long sleeved top today but would have felt happier in short sleeves actually.

I generally strip my top layer off and tie it round my waist it’s great to feel warm enough to do that outside

i really like my thin buff,it starts off as a beanie,2k in it get pulled down round my neck,3k in it is whipped off and doubled around my wrist.

when i started c25 i bought a windproof running jacket but have only worn it about twice.

i do however suffer from coldness in the afternoon after a run,i have googled it and it is a `thing`.

At this time of year, I tend to have a long-sleeved merino base layer under my running top. As soon as I'm warmed up, the sleeves get pushed up. I don't really like having my forearms covered, I find it very uncomfortable so they've pretty much been bare since my teens. My only real concession to winter is my running tights that I wear under my shorts instead of my usual trunks.

I've been getting too hot in my winter weight running tights and tops during parkruns and have gone to my summer ones. It just the first mile I keep my light weight long sleeved fleece on for.
