It was too warm for me to run the last couple of mornings but today was a bit cooler and I managed to get up a little bit earlier. Left the house at a respectable time and stopped to pick a few blackberries before we turned to the path to start running, I love all the free fruit just there for the picking at this time of year.
Set off to do a gentle 3k, but a little way along Mr Y suggested 5k. I didn't really feel like going that far but couldn't think of an excuse that didn't make me sound like a wimp so 5k it was.
I kept my speed and HR down for as long as I could, occasionally walking while I had a drink (or stopped to pick more berries). The ground is pretty rough in places but the fields are looking wonderful. Even saw some sheep grazing by the small reservoir! Being out running under the blue skies, with greenery, sunshine and sheep, what could be better?
The run felt a bit long, the downside of running slowly is it takes ages to cover the distance. I was 2k beyond the distance I'd set on NRC and once I finished there was Coach B telling me how marvellous I was! He's done this before, does anyone else get this or am I special? π
Once I got home I took advantage of a small area of turf we laid a couple of weeks ago to do my cooldown stretches. It's lovely, soft and lush, unlike the rest of the lawn which is sparse and weedy thanks to No Mow May (which was lovely itself while it lasted ). What a great start to the day.
