My run on Wednesday was my first since November 25th due to Chronic sinusitis so decided to keep it to a 3k.
Decided to do the same today as I want to get back into it slowly and safely.
It was certainly cold !
It was -1 when I went out and the roads and pavements were very slippery so had decided to wear my trail shoes for that extra grip !
Even still I had be be very careful and concious of my foot placement.
I wore running tights , and two layers on top then also a very thin and light jacket, gloves and a snood , I was still cold on my warm up but once I started jogging I soon reached a comfortable temperature .
It actually felt tougher today and I can certainly tell my fitness has suffered since November, but this is not a race !
Again not interested in pace or even distance for that matter .
This is purely about regaining fitness in however long it takes .
So 3k done , back home for stretches and porridge and a mug of tea !
Then I think a hot bath ๐

Ah brilliant Ian, it really is so good to see you out there again. The buff looks like a wise thing to wear especially if your sinuses have been painful. I saw some in Mountain Warehouse yesterday, but have yet to succumb! Well done ๐คฉ.
You make this post. I love it. Two runs now in three days. Steady but determined, hopeful and progressive. Awesome run my friend. Keep daring and it'll come in time. ๐๐๐๐
So happy that you are recovering from that Chronic sinusitis and had a nice gentle 3K run this morning, when I don't go to a parkrun on a Saturday morning I usually run a short 3K as I did last Saturday around the park near to where I live, this morning I ran my first parkrun of 2022, still waiting for the result, I will post it on Damienair's parkrun forum as soon as I get it.
Yay well done! It's great to read your run reports again โบ๏ธ as you say, pace and distance are irrelevant, just get used to being out there regularly and regaining fitness - a lot of us can relate to that at the moment! ๐ I need to get a buff / snood, it is very cold out there๐ฅถ โ๏ธ
Buffโs are great, We started wearing them at the beginning of first lock down and if we saw anyone we quickly covered our noses, but on a longer run when Iโve got hot Iโve been known to have bare shoulders and arms but still got my buff on. The great thing about you returning after that sinusitis is slow steady and not too far and you should be back on top form ready for spring and milder weather and longer runs with the land bursting in to life around you. Iโm well aware thereโs too many ands in that sentence but I got carried away, good to read your post
Oh, yes, you definitely look ready for the chilly conditions! Buffs are just so brilliantly adaptable as one warms up and, if needed, even carry-able as a wristband. Great to see you on your return journey after the setbacks. Youโre doing exactly the right thing: rebuilding your running routine with patience and without making any over-reaching demands on your body. Just getting out and reminding yourself how much joy it brings: thatโs perfectly pitched.๐
Hello Ian, hope you're well. Sorry to hear that your chronic sinusitis has kept you away since November. I hope you are much better now. Slow and steady sounds very sensible so you don't burnout/ injure yourself and yes be extra careful on those slippery surfaces - I've been wearing my trail shoes all winter and am thankful for the extra grip. I got a very good quality buff recently from Ben Parkes and can highly recommend it!๐ค
The buff is great as the last thing I needed at the moment is breathing in freezing air ๐ฅถ
Well done and some runs do feel harder than others. I still don't understand how that can be, even when everything seems to be ok. Luckily there are also the easy runs to look forward to.
