I'd like to run lejog virtually in 2022, any ideas how I do this? I've seen it mentioned on some posts but never was inclined till now, and thinking about a personal new year challenge.Grateful for ideas.

Don’t know how u do that Mormor. Isn’t there a website for Lejog challenges , saw them somewhere. My New Years resolution if I can keep to it is walk every day for a year, I do t mean literally walk to work, I mean to go out for a walk even if it’s early and register on Garmin or Strava. Sorry never replied to ur other posts as haven’t received them in inbox in emails like I usually do .

I believe there are various sites Mormor1 , but think you have to pay if you want to record stuff or get their virtual postcards and medals and stuff. Never done it myself, hopefully someone better informed will be along to answer soon!

This is the one I did endtoend.run/lands-end-to-j... a few of us did it this year. Great fun - you put your runs and walks in and it moves you up the map. Quite motivating but you do have to pay for it. There is a medal and t-shirt to go along with it! There are other companies doing these virtual challenges as well.

Thanks Fionamags, I'll have a look.

As mentioned on the Marathon group, Conqueror Challenges also has a Lejog challenge. You can buy the challenge, set yourself a goal in time and get a nice medal when you finish. You can track your progress in their app which connects with eg. Garmin or other applications which track your runs. theconqueror.events/lejog/

Conqueror do a lejog challenge which I completed last year. Well organized and set up company. Only drawback is the virtual route is a bit odd, includes the A303 and motorways in places! Just signed up for the SW Coast Path with EndtoEnd but not started yet. I think they are a newer company and first impression is that they are a bit more basic, it appears you can't log in km only in miles and you have to manually enter runs while conqueror picks it up straight from Strava or other running app. On the other hand EndtoEnd are a UK company and have some interesting routes.

That's all useful to know. Thanks

Yes, I’ve done virtual runs with both

- End to End: endtoend.run

And

- Conqueror: theconqueror.events

So here is my comparative review:

————

End to End:

- based in the UK

- no automatic tracking from running trackers

- only running and walking allowed on most routes

- both have spiffy postcards sent by email

- you only have a year and normal that’s it. You can email and ask for an extension and they can put you into the next cohort manually. But the friendliness of the response depends on who you get to respond.

- it tracks on a website linking to Google maps

- not so good in smartphones

————-

Conqueror:

- based in New Zealand

- better and gorgeous medals

- excellent dedicated smart app that tracks runs from most of your tracking apps and apple health and etc

- any physical activity allowed, they also have a conversion chart. So I was able to use rowing for one route and yoga and running for another

- both have spiffy postcards sent by email

- the choice of routes and medals is just outstanding

- it has its own dedicated app which works brilliantly and has google-view integrated

———-

In my opinion the Conqueror experience has been far superior, including looking at the virtual map, customer experience and the choice and quality of medals, which are simply outstanding.

But having a UK company is a big advantage for UK runners.

Hope this helps.
