My JLIM 5k Speed Challenge Run.

Up sharp and running by 0600 on Roseabi’s Speed challenge.

It has been magic, just like everything else to do with running and this forum.

My chosen route/circuit/ is 4x1.2k + 200m Mobot finish🙈😂.

The grandsprockets have been visiting and returning to London on this morning’s train into Euston. So had to get back to taxi them all to the station, two runs, do not have four baby seats available here at present.

As I did each circuit I thought of each of them in turn, who they are now and what they may do with their lives.

They were with me, one at a time and each circuit in turn, I guess I will call each circuit, James, Lewis, Isabelle and Myles. They range from nearly 2- nearly 5.

So it is my JLIM Woodland Coastal Park Circuit on Holy Island.

My grandchildren got me around alright and handed to me my first ever sub 40 min 5k.

I do hope they will find the gift of running, and it takes its place in their lives as it does now in mine.

Of course it is everyone’s personal choice and certainly that is part of the magic also.Finding it for yourself.🌟

There can never be an end to thank you’s to this running forum and never an end to the enjoyment of running.

Got to believe this is magic.

So many light bulb moments on C25k, Bridge to10K and Marathon Speed Challenge.

There will never be an end to the continuous improvement and joy either.

Relax, Start Positive, Stay Positive and Enjoy.💥💫🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💫💥

Oh my what a heartwarming post. 😍 Loved reading it and so pleased it gave you a PB - how rewarding for you!

I agree with the joy of running - wish I’d found it sooner. But not sure I would have enjoyed it as much without all you beautiful souls on this forum. xx

Running is the life’s blood of our souls.

I just believe that and it has just got to be magic.

Cannot believe I found this gift of running and the gift of this forum until my 75th year.

But Hey Ho I am delighted for you and the many years of enjoyment.

What a lovely post Tbae. Your grandchildren are very lucky to have you. 🏃‍♂️🌟

Tbae in reply toDexy5

The grandchildren love their Nannie and they call me Grampy.

I think the boss, Nannie, would probably say about me, it should

be Grumpy Grampy.🤔🙈😂😂

Yes Dexy, it is a blessing, never thought we would see it, nothing , then all at once, just like buses, four beautiful little souls.

House is quiet🤔🙈 and I am lying down in a dark room.🙈😂😂

What a lovely post! So wonderful to hear you combine 2 great joys - your grandkids and running! Sounds like it doesn’t get much better!

Tbae profile image

Thanks Simon.👍

It just does not. A further joy is you can hand them back, no responsibility, bless them.🤔🙈

Next is to lay down in a dark room, a bit like repair days, well not quite.🙈🤔😂😂

I think Roseabi commented on your 6k in 30 mins, on speed challenge over on Marathon.🤔

She was disappointed to hear your programme maybe include backing off.🤔

No drama Simon, but as someone who is trying to break out of a straight jacket I have been searching for medical information and understanding.

Apparently our bodies get very accustomed and are good at perfecting routine and keep us stuck perhaps somewhere we do not want to be.🤔

This is not related to irresponsible risk or pushing toward injury , quite the contrary,it is being informed and having choices.

Good luck with your choices.💥🏃‍♂️💥

Take good care of you.

That is so lovely of you.🌟

You are practically a neighbour.

Both my daughters, the children’s mums, went to John Moore’s. At one of their graduations, Sir Ken Dodd got his Honary Doctorate.

Happy days and many memories.

Take care of you and must catch up with your story/Posts.

Come on England.🏆👏👏

I hope you are good and able to arrange your busy schedule and your responsibilities to keep pursuing your running dreams Bev.🌟

Your amazing journey and kindness and the challenges you have overcome to arrive to this point is truly remarkable.💥

I would die for your pace and now your distance.🌟👏👏

Perhaps I may rethink my present plan and repeat 10 the magic number 10K plan and delay my HM plan by 8 weeks. In other words a further 12 weeks on JuJu’s plan.🤔 I have had a lovely diversion on the speed challenge.👍

Children and grandchildren are such a blessing and running is such a gift also.💥

Take good care of you.💫🏃‍♀️💫

Come on England.👍👏👏🏆

Bless you for introducing us to the grandchildren. Fantastic to hear they got you your first sub-40, must've been the extra enthusiasm they've brought with them!

After a few hours in the dark room, you'll miss them 😆

I wonder if you'll share "Roseabi's Speed Challenge". I've never heard of it before and am intrigued.

I did Laura's Speed podcast tonight. No idea how it went, speed-wise, Strava broke so I had to rely on my OH's stats but he did the same distance, not the same podcast.

It was okay though, enjoyed it. 😊

Thank you.

Yes very quiet.

If you go over to Marathon, you will see Roseabi’s weekly posts and tips and the rules of the competition.

Next one is in October. Not to be missed.🤔👏👏

You select a distance and a course and can do as many runs/attempts per week and enter your best improvement result for the week.

It is all calculated in seconds/km and logged over the 4 week period on a spreadsheet and graph.

Great fun and gives you added motivation and healthy handicapped competition.

The tips and experience are typically of this fantastic forum.💥💫🏃‍♀️💫💥

Take care of you.

in reply toTbae

Thank you. Sounds like fun! I'm nowhere near ready to think about training for a marathon however. 😃

Hi Sutsha,

It is not limited to those training for a marathon.🤔

It’s Marathon and Running Race Support.👍👏👏

I am not.

It is just that it takes place over on that site.🤔

Please visit it and enquire.

Not to be missed.👍👏👏

I use Laura’s podcasts all the time solidily for months and still do.

I intend to keep repeating the speed podcast from 6 intervals and 12 minutes to double and triple that.

I reckon it’s based on a 10km/ hr pace which is what I would need to get to sub 30.

The 30/20/10 kind of structured fartlek and strides all fantastic also.

Read Roseabi’s tips and advice on her 4 Speedcast challenge Posts.

Of course JuJu’s also on magic 10.

Hope this helps.💥🏃‍♀️💥

in reply toTbae

Joined the Magic 10 bus just recently after tentatively running alongside for a bit 😀 My OH is determined not to increase so I've decided to squeeze a long run in on my own to enjoy both the training plan and his company.

Had a quick squint over the hedge to Marathon, looks good. Will probably start lurking...🤫

It's great to hear your journey and that this programme really is for anyone at any stage in their life and fitness. That's an amazing feat.

😊
