Well...yesterday I impulsively shared a link to a virtual challenge running right across the UK in 12 months. I hadnβt done the maths or noted the mileage involved π³. As soon as it was pointed out, I deleted the thought from my mind! π βπ½.... βooh for the elite runnersβ....βthatβs me outβ! βοΈ
However, glad to see so many VRBβs are now signed up and more amazing VRBβs came to the rescue to provide info and encouragement that...actually....this is for EVERYONE ππΎββοΈππ»ββοΈππΌββοΈππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈπββοΈ. Even those starting C25K. Thank you RunaroundSue for giving loads of extra info π₯°. Ever the cheerleader UnfitNoMore when I said βI must have been asked as a bit of a jokeβ, he said....π¬ βnot necessarily....β. He has a subtle way with words π and is always encouraging. GTFC...well he dropped a golden nugget of an idea to create my very own 12 month challenge too (again...just a subtle question..π). Youβve all spurred me on...so, itβs on!! βπ½
I had an amazing bit of coaching during my run today (Iβm sticking to those guided runs now; it definitely keeps me more fired up during my runs) βPerseverance is not continuing until you win, itβs continuing even when you loseβ. Itβs the perfect analogy for me. I know Iβm always going to be better than before I started. You really canβt ever go wrong!! ππ
Iβve signed up and Iβm ready to go!! π₯π₯
Iβm excited! Happy running Runners! β₯οΈ

I love this. Do you know you are spot on here? It's your journey and the fabulous people on here are always so supportive, non-judgemental and encouraging.
Well done firstly on completing your third run this week. It always feels so good after and so very satisfying. By keeping this up and being consistent over the next 12 months you'll grow stronger and with that extra experience you'll be able to alter and amend your running to find what routine and style suits you.
Each run then becomes another piece on the jigsaw or page in your book. It won't be where you end up but will be how you got there. THIS GIRL WILL π½
Lovely positive post as ever Fab450, your challenge sounds, well, quite a challenge to me - I start off with a plan for 3 times a week and it usually ends up being twice instead! Hey ho! Good luck with your βtripβ to JoG - donβt forget to let us know how you get on, what route will you take?!!
Thank you Oldgirlruns!! π€ Thatβs the plan and hopefully it will work with the option for walks.
Ooh the route? ππ Now thereβs a question. With everything else, Iβm so organised...but running...? π€·π½ββοΈ It just doesnβt happenπ€ͺ. Iβm going to just use the total mileage to see where I get to. β€οΈ
Fantastic decision you made yesterday Fabulous450, I am sure you will make it all the way to John O Groats, many people on this forum have signed up for it, thanks to RunaroundSue enquiries you don't need to to have Strava and a Garmin watch to compete in the challenge.
I was looking at the total distance I ran/walked last week on my calculator and Mapmyrun/walk, I take my neighbours dog a walk of almost 2 Kilometres every day plus other longer walks in the morning, those walks last week totaled 22 kilometers altogether, that with the 2/5Ks I ran was 32 Kilometers, so 27 Kilometers a week is manageable, I also go a bike ride on a Sunday morning
During the winter months I don't go any bike rides, instead I go several longer walks, those long brisk walks heats me more than π΄ cycling, good luck to you for your Lejog ππΎ /walking πΆ journey. π
The route - unfortunately it is main roads, so not very scenic do far. I have just joined the M5 at Tiverton
But as you log your miles (which you have to do as well as the previously discussed evidence) you will see your position on an interactive map. You can use the Streetview icon to look at a picture and see the white van bearing down on you If you move the Streetview slightly away from the road you might see something more interesting- the first time I tried it I visited a Tin and Cooper mine!
Having signed up with quite a few on here weβre definitely in this together. Just done a gentle 5k in this warm weather and started to think about how all these distances we do are going to add up to some amazing distances. Roll on the 17thππππ»ββοΈ
