On this day, 6 years ago, I graduated C25Kand was told I was a runner by the lovely Jo Whiley. I was so amazed that I had achieved that at the age of 60, and celebrated with an ice cream on Southsea beach with my loyal running hubby, UpTheStanley .
Lots has happened since then as C25K opened up the doors to parkrun, fun runs, races and countrywide meet ups with lovely running buddies from the forum.
I wanted to run to celebrate the runniversary. but having just had Covid , even that 30 minute graduation run seemed a bit daunting today. I read that I should return to running slowly, keep my HR low, and maybe run/walk for the first few outings..
So having done a warm up at home, UTS and I walked to canoe lake and then started a gentle trot around the rose garden and then I began circuits of the lake while UTS went off for his short but faster run. I did 4 alternate laps of running and walking, trying not to huff and puff too much on the runs, and am pleased that I didn’t feel I had to stop.
After a cappuccino, I celebrated being a runner again with a delicious ice cream tub.
So thank you C25K, I am so glad I installed that podcast on my phone back in 2018.

A big congratulations to you Dexy5 on the 6th anniversary on graduating from C25K, yes its been a great 6 years for you, like me you are a member of the class of 2018, you ran that graduation run along the seafront at Southsea on May 15th 2018, a month later on June 18th I graduated from C25K running along the seafront at Helensburgh on the west coast of Scotland about 35 miles from where I live, I am sure you enjoyed your cappuccino and ice cream tub, 😋 yummy 😋
Thanks Al, a good time of the year to graduate with that beautiful blue sky, but I did have to retreat to the gym in March though when the Beast from the East arrived. ❄️
I remember the Beast from the East back at the end of February 2018, waited until April and began C25K on 18th April and graduated on 18th June, happy memories.
Well said Dexy5 what a fabulous time it’s been, and so many of us from the Class of 2018 (I think!) are still active on the forum and still getting out there and doing what we can!
It’s been lovely to be a small part of your journey and we’ve found so many lovely friends through running! 🏃♀️➡️🏃♂️➡️
I didn’t find the HU forum until my last few weeks David, but it was really helpful during the consolidation period when IannodaTruffe was watching over us.
We are all very grateful that you down loaded the app Dexy5! You continue to be a fantastic support …and critical but kindly friend when needed…to so many on these forums. Long may that continue. 🙂
It is amazing how many of us have hung around isn’t it? We’ve all been taking turns in supporting each other during the good times and the bad. I’ve now got to follow in your footsteps as Captain Sensible.
Happy runniversary Dexy5, sorry to hear you’ve had covid, hopefully now on the mend. I can picture you jogging around the rose garden and lake. Watching out for the swans eh🤣. I’m still plodding along our seafront, I was a lockdown novice when i started c25k, so pleased I’m still jogging along. Take care😊
Yay! Congratulations Dexy 👏👏👏 You may have only just recovered from Covid but you look the picture of health in that photo. 2018 graduates are the best 😁🤗
Happy 6th Runniversary Dexy5 🎉🍦I'll bet 6 years ago you'd have never imagined what a gift running would turn out to be, the friendships formed and the wonderful meetups. Having met you and UTS at one of them, the Wilmslow parkrun I'm looking forward to seeing you again next April - already booked!
Long time no see BaddieThePirate ! I hope you are well. The Covid was not too severe, thank goodness, just a couple of days in bed, but UTS looked after me well.
Six years! That's wonderful! I'm a 2019 graduate and while I haven't achieved your heights in still pottering along too. Must say you are looking good on it!!
Just pottering along is doing us good Gwenllian1 . I have probably only lost 2kg in weight (probably due to post run cappuccinos) but no longer being on hypertension meds says how much fitter I am than pre running.
Happy Runniversary Dexy5 So glad you feel recovered enough to go for a celebratory run. Here’s to many more years of running and many more years of friendships xx
Dexy5 what a brilliant achievement for a fantastic lady. It's such an unbelievable achievement to have firstly achieved the wonderful C25K program but secondly, and vitally, that you've kept going. Thank you also for being such an important member of these forums. I greatly appreciate your guidance and support. I will run very soon and dedicate it to you 😊👏👏👏👏👏👏
congratulations on your runnivesary and sorry to hear about the Covid - it sounds as though you celebrated very sensibly! I’m a lockdown graduate, and just looking at dipping my toe in the bridge to 10k as I’ve been in and out for a while over the years and feel like I need a bit more structure again. I can’t believe it’s coming up to my four year runniversary where has the time gone? 🤷🏼♀️
It does speed along when enjoying yourself. I can recommend Juju’s magic plan for 10k on the bridge forum. You can do the 3 runs a week in any order to suit you.
Happy Runniversary Dexy5, from another of the Class of 2018 😊 Fond memories of C25k (Jo Whiley was my coach too) and my own June graduation run on the Isle of Skye. The community on here was so valuable, made so many VRBs, some of whom have gone on to be RBs! I’m still running (a lot), have done a couple of HMs so far this year and this morning had a fabulous run in a very sunny and hot Cardiff Bay 10k. Keep on running!
